Hedgehogs harmed by discarded rubber bands

This is a terrible story i think we should all stop using elastic bands, poor hedgehogs.

It's a feckin hedgehog ffs...basically a rat with spikes....and riddled with disease.

Hedgehogs are becoming an endangered species irrespective of your views on them. Personally, I see them as a small part of our national heritage. A quintessentially English creature that is well-loved despite its obvious flaws. I don't know why but there's something heart-warming about seeing a hedgehog plodding into your garden in the summer, and something equally heart-wrenching about seeing one splattered across the road carelessly, often looking as if the driver was playing 'aim for the hedgehog' with the way it met its untimely demise. Rats with spikes, maybe, disease ridden, definitely, but still a living thing and like all of nature's creatures deserving of a modicum of respect and care. Amazingly, it's not elastic bands but fences that are slowly driving the hedgehog towards their doom - they can't get into people's gardens to find food any more and are struggling as a consequence to survive.

It's a shame, but everyone here can at least rest in some small measure of peace knowing that it's not their elastic bands that are sending the hedgehog the way of the dodo. However, if you are a nature-loving (not in that sense, perverts) person, you might like to cut a few hedgehog-sized holes in your fence to enable the hedgehog to roam a little more freely.

Fallujah Hedgehog rescue have also reported a couple of incidents involving depleted uranium.

its those armoured owls, very indiscriminate, they drop pellets of the stuff everywhere.
