What we REALLY need IMHO. Is for someone from HQ to actually go to the Press, and explain our situation properly. And provide a copy of the actual Pay and Modernisation Agreement, as reference for the Press. So they can see for themselves, that it has been consistently misquoted by RM, and exactly which parts they are in clear breach of. But I doubt that they will do that. They're too busy working on cheap publicity stunts, like the baloon release! :arrrghhh

It's a pity really, that someone like Dingo, isn't able to deal with the Press. If he went to them with the information he provides on here. We might have a chance of getting something done about this mess!
I'm sorry Andy but I have to disagree with you :cry do you honestly believe the union has not tried what you say? I'm sure that dingo would be the first to admit that Dave Ward is more then capable of getting the message across, but there is no right of reply in this country, newspapers can print what they like and unless they are committing libel(and you've got a lot of dough) you have no recourse, you only have to try and get your views on one of the newspaper forums(The Mail, The Times) and if they don't like what you say they block you, and will not put up your post, I think the union has a lot to answer for on some issues, but not this one :hmmmm

To be honest the press is the least of our worries .
So far we have had no information from our branch at all, and it shows. You go in in the morning and there are folks who should know better repeating the only stuff they've heard "unions breaking the agreement", leadership eh?

Here you go BELIAL, this is what we were given. Hope it's of some help !

TO: THE BRANCH SECRETARY

Dear Colleague

OFFICIAL INDUSTRIAL ACTION – 17/18TH JULY 2009

As a consequence of official industrial action taking place on 17TH/18TH July in a number of offices, Royal Mail have advised us that in order to restore a full service to its customers it may be necessary to divert work to other offices to clear backlogs caused by the industrial action.

It is important that picketing only takes place at or near the workplace where members have been balloted and not at any other office or location which may be being used during the period of industrial action.

Furthermore, any refusal by members who are not involved in the balloted industrial action to work as directed is, in fact, unlawful industrial action.

Branches are reminded that only properly balloted industrial action is legal and any refusal to co-operate with management over these changes may be deemed unofficial industrial action and therefore illegal. This, of course, applies to use of supplementary staff and levels of overtime to clear any backlogs. All such measures will be subject to normal consultative arrangements.

If any difficulties are incurred then Branches should contact the Operational Assistant Secretary.

Yours sincerely

W HAYES DAVE WARD

The CWU has someone in The Mirror newspaper, that's why we had all that stuff from them a while back, but it seems to have gone cold.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. I've seen the interviews with Dave Ward, and they were far from convincing. He didn't do a good job of explaining the situation at all. Although I agree that he did try. What we need, is someone who's better at explaining the problems, and how we intend to try to rectify it.

We need a plan a united plan and action why in god's name are we all fighting the same fight at different times and some not even given the chance too fight for their rights!. While royalmail plot and play the game against the rules of the agreement of the 2007 pay and modernisation agreement which some say solved the dispute of 2007!. This can no longer be the case as i said in november 2007 it will end in a thousand pieces and as such it has turned out to be the case!. We are not defeated as the anger and rage of my office is anything to go by!. But we need good and solid leadership we can all mock our leaders but stuck we are with them it is time we back them one last time but their actions will and must speak louder than their words have of present!.

Yes brother but "TO THE PERSON" you only have to read the coverage of the pension fund in recent days were papers were saying that the final salary pension fund may close, we all know that it's closed already, you try and get them to print a retraction and admit that there piece was wrong, you've got no chance(but you can prove me wrong  )

Andy I agree with you as regard interviews on TV, we really need someone who can go on telly and explain our case in the 2 mins they get, that is a department were we are sorely lacking

Royal Mail have advised us that in order to restore a full service to its customers it may be necessary to divert work to other offices to clear backlogs caused by the industrial action
So RM are still dictating to CWU even under strike conditions?

Btw, why is it most of the strikes planned are based in Scotland? Why not entire UK coverage,a nd more to the point why not one out all out? This is a typical CWU tactic. Use Scotland as a pawn and guage opinion. All out or not, no middle man crap.
