i believe it serves a very good purpose .
exposing the lies of the lies of the union .in real cases.
so many times questions have been asked on this site which were answered with "if you joined the union these are the benifits"ive refuted them all before.and this is proof.you dont get representation ,you dont get help unless its cost effective,you dont get anything but a big company looking after it balance sheet just like royal mail.

incidently as many may recall i joined the union (against my better judgement)well i recieved nothing but marketing mail from them.eventually i looked on their website on how to leave in disgust.not mentioned.
i phoned the numbers (answer machines)left all details wanting to leave.herd nothing money still going.told my local rep(usless)he said he had no idea.phoned local branch,nothing.finally i phone royal mail pay and told them to stop money.over a month ago.stopped money for me since when ive been inundated with emails,post,the voice.election material.alsort...

Commonsense says cancel your subs firstly by contacting RM pay department and secondly by writing to the CWU address on website.

Once youve done the first youve no longer got any money going to the CWU which is surley the most important thing is it not?

Personally I think that the CWU should take on a lot more cases than they do and if that costs more money then I am perfectley willing to pay more in membership fees.

Part timers including me pay less than FT mbrs for the exact same services, isnt it time we thought about basing membership fees on the level of service you can get?

I'm perfectly happy with the union service at local level but the further up the chain it goes the more disillusioned I become (they do seem to want to hold onto our money, for what I don't know).

The bit about RM going to a EAT doesn't surprise me , all I can say is there must have been orders from on very high in RM that case was too big for them to lose . A very arrogant firm but we know all that ! .

That standard statement parroted out by RM " We will defend our position in any tribunal " is threatening . Look at that case with that poor bloke hounded out with the skin condition , RM closed ranks and protected the DUMETTE to the bitter end in a EAT and hired some very expensive solicitors to wriggle out of the corner they'd backed themselves into ; even the ATOS doctor wouldn't do RM's dirty work for him and told RM to be mindful of the DDA acts .

I have seen a case in another service , to summarize ; things were handled very badly by the union locally and by the employer . Dismissal letters to the reps were sent round in a taxi - you get the picture ! .
The Union did win but the Employer did appeal to grind the union down financially and the three sacked were far left martyrs - sometimes you wonder if they'd actually prefer to go it alone without the union .
They didn't last long in their new jobs either

sorry new on here. very glad Mr Linwood got his job back.

It's not compulsary, to remain anonymous. But it is everyone's RIGHT to remain anonymous, if they choose to. There were several cases in '07 of people being disciplined for comments they made on here. I myself, was once threatened with disciplinary action, if I didn't remove a Thread in which I gave details of a case against a Manager. Because they classed it as B&H, shaming him in that way (I only posted it, to warn people what can happen. And to get some messages of support for the victim ). Even though I didn't use any names, or mention where it happened (it was a high profile case).

Quite a few people (including 2 Managers) know my real identity. But I still don't advertise it, as you never know who may be "lurking". Just sticking to the facts, isn't always enough to keep you out of trouble.

Indeed the golden rule is PERSEC, PERsonal SECurity at all times, never more so than with RM snooping and I guarantee they are right now, being sad that they are that they don't have any life outside of work.

i'm glad mr linwood won the case. very disappointed in cwu (shakes head). makes u wonder innit. they seriously under estimated here. cwu legal team should know to start with its a 51% win/49% not a 50-50

trouble is our union has become fat and lazy. they get their money stopped straight out of our wages and then they just sit back and think of different way's of spending it. it must run into millions of pounds a year they get in union sub's. god only knows what the hell they spend it on.

Big Daz...I would say even less interest on the telecoms side...have to agree with Linkin...a shocking waste of money and you cannot even get a decent link to it through the CWU website.....

Talking of accounts, which I believe every member should have the chance of seeing, today is the 7 day deadline for our own branch accounts to be published to all the members...prior to the AGM...

I look forward to receiving them in the post (unlikely now) or seeing them displayed on every union board in our area......

BUT WILL IT HAPPEN?????

AND IF IT DOES, WHAT WILL THEY SHOW????

Always happy to see mine and everyone elses money spend on appropriate matters...

It is vital for branches to follow their own rules on these matters and not break them...

Remember people only respect what you inspect...they need to be shown as per the rules...

If they are not, I encourage every member to request their legal right to view them...makes amazing viewing!!!!
