Lincoln was given 'Liverpools' new shared vans as it was thought Lincoln would be a soft touch after it was booted out by Liverpool workers.

I thought that these shared van duties were for dely's over 3.30hrs... cos they just would not work otherwise.
We don't even know what content will be in our duties for conveyance but good chance the volunteer army who start 1hr before time will take out their cars and fly around their walk just to finish ON TIME cos I don't see anyone getting a quick finish from what I have seen.
3 weeks and we go live, so hope the guys and dolls stick together and show the feckers it will not work, but it will always work when you don't do the job properly.......CAN'T YOU ALL SEE THAT???????

like something out of Peter Seller's " I'm all right Jack " film - RM would be the 50's spivs orchestrating IR & Hellmail think everything will be rosy if people were given John Lewis type shares , bit more complicated than that

3.5 hour walks plus alloted time for what would be referred to as van calls just now(in our DO)
i can see it being a nightmare but ive already had a word with the dims about me not working over my time ;)

Postal deliveries in Lincoln have been thrown into chaos after 70 postal staff walked out in a dispute over new working practices.

The unofficial strike action began after two postmen at the Firth Road delivery office were suspended without pay.

They had challenged bosses about changes they said they had not been trained for.

Thousands of items went undelivered across the city yesterday as the strike took hold.

Royal Mail wants to implement a "van sharing" scheme where two postmen per van are sent out on certain parcel rounds – rather than the current system of one postman per van.


Some workers – who had previously been bicycle delivery workers – arrived at work yesterday to be told that they now had to drive the vans.

The postal workers have accused managers of ignoring their pleas for a meeting.

Depot union representative David Burnett said workers had concerns over health and safety and contractual obligations.

"The union decided that if staff members did not want go with the new way of operating then they would get full backing, bringing us to the situation we're now in," he said.

But the workers are not protected under UK law and could lose their jobs or be sued for the move.

One worker on the picket line, who did not want to be identified, said: "Previously one postman would be responsible for his mail but this would mean there is another person involved.

"We don't know who would be held responsible if something was lost or stolen. They are using bully-boy tactics to push this through."

that is an interesting point about responsibility for loss , damage and delay etc . The RM mentality, is to sack the pair of them as one was apparently deliberately turning a blind eye . One DC worker got a £60,000 settlement at a IT for unfair dismissal for " theft " .

Enuff said about the 2007/2009 agreement - a Pandoras box for us and the most a union could have gifted a megalomaniac management.

Well the latest is that the union have offered an olive branch in way of Durham's local shared van agreement. Hope something gets sorted out. We had some head office people down today. However they just listened and wouldn't say a word.
Personally i think i'll be on the picket line again tomorrow.

your license say no to driving its your choice.AT our office its 4.30 hrs span so their plans say.bulk drives will lose their jobs.
