doing the job properly doesnt work, during the back log me & another guy at my DO decided we we're going to start cutting off at the proper time 14:22, having our full allocated breaktime, not coming in early etc because our new manager thought we wernt working hard enough and made us stay back till 11:30 every day sorting. Ours is one of the worst walks in the office, its a 3-4 hour walk especially with the volume we had coming in after we went bk to work, our frames wer breaking with the amount we wer putting in erm. We thought f**k this we're not breaking our balls when hes takin the piss outta us, we started doing the job properly & brought work, took our correct breaks etc & the more he would try to bully us into doing what he wanted, eventually he started threatening us with sorting tests & remarks such as he'd already got rid of 3 people so what was another two. 1 slip up & hes gona have us, & theres till people at my DO coming in early, not taking breaks, doing overtime till 5pm etc. where did it get us?

1st off well done the members who had the sence to vote NO
We have been well and truly shafted and had the privilage of loosing all them strike day pays.
When we get what money we are owed we are not going to be any better off.
I hope those who voted YES can sleep in their beds and know that not only have they sold themselfs out but also us who voted NO.
WHEN THE CHANGES ARE ALL PUSHED IN NEXT YEAR LETS SEE WHO SHOUTS AND COMPLAINS LOUDEST.
Also lets keep a close eye on the Top Brass of CWU and see who gets what Golden handshake as a thankyou.

vote yes?
In my opinion, the ballot was 'fixed' if you think about exactly who this really affects i.e. the Delivery postman, i bet you will find that the majority of us voted NO, however, this was a ballot for ALL members in the CWU as is right and proper within a democratic trade union. However, i believe that there are more members in mail centers/distribution, etc who saw the fictional 6.9% and thought "yep, I'll have that before xmas thank you very much".
So, as usual the delivery postman, the front line face of Royal Mail, the men and women who suffer more than most the comments from the public and inept management have been shafted yet again.
I think it's disgraceful that the majority of members who bothered to vote or should that be the 'minority'? didn't think beyond there pockets and thought more about the long term future of this company and their jobs.

Spoilt?
How on earth did 156 CWU members manage to be counted as having their ballot papers spoilt? Is it possible that that many people are either too thick to know what to do or thought it clever to ruin their future in such a way?
This result is total s**t! Start looking for alternative employment comrades. There's no future now.

surely the vote is nil and void after so many people on here have said they did not even get a voting card, maybe lost in the post, i dont think so. someone must look into this and have a proper vote with all voting cards acounted for.maybe more underhand tackticks from our currupt leaders. (quick get a lawyer or go to office of fair trade or whoever cause this is not a proper vote.)roonaldo wrote:i NEVER EVEN RECEIVED A VOTING FORM AND i KNOW OF AT LEAST ONE OTHER IN MY OFFICE WHO DIDN'T ALSO!!!

Perhaps when they get moved to a delivery office and haveing to do D2D getting wet with a big heavy bag and said customer's maybe they will reconsider but it will be to late then!.cockney rebel wrote:In my opinion, the ballot was 'fixed' if you think about exactly who this really affects i.e. the Delivery postman, i bet you will find that the majority of us voted NO, however, this was a ballot for ALL members in the CWU as is right and proper within a democratic trade union. Well I hope all you people who voted YES enjoy it whenever you are working extra for nothing and whenever you go in to work in the morning and find yourself moved to a vacant duty because you have agreed to be flexible (I only say that because it's what I'm doing now and it's really disheartening to worry about what duty you are going to be on when you go in), and for those MC staff who voted yes I hope you enjoy being sent out to DO's up and down the country doing all the deliveries that will not be done.
I hope the Billy, Dave and Gordon are happy with the result, I for one will be putting serious thought into coming out of the union, at least that way I'll not feel so sold out the next time the union want our help (and an extra £3/week in my wages).

Re: vote yes?
My anger is directed at the 46000 people who didn't even bother to vote. There weren't 46000 people working during the strikes, so why would anyone who went on strike not use their vote ??? I do not understand people like thatcockney rebel wrote:In my opinion, the ballot was 'fixed' if you think about exactly who this really affects i.e. the Delivery postman, i bet you will find that the majority of us voted NO, however, this was a ballot for ALL members in the CWU as is right and proper within a democratic trade union. I won't pass comment on your allegation that delivery guys have been shafted by mail centers/distribution, because I voted NO and arguments of that nature play right into the hands of Leighton & Crozier who would just love it if the union descends into recriminations and loads of members leaving the CWU. They would have achieved what they set out to do, finish the union as a fighting force !
Anyway, even if your theory were correct, it follows that around 23000 of those that didn't vote at all must be in deliveries. If they'd been @rsed to vote, then 23000 additional No votes could have swung the result. Not voting at all when your whole working life could be dramatically changed is absolutely unforgivable in my opinion
