I think you will lose all four days pay in one week. When we had one dayers in our area spread out over a weekend, RM took 2 days pay in one week. Anyone who took part in the ST area will know what I am talking about.

This is a f****d up idea from the Union :mad :mad :mad . We should have gone back to the rolling weeks the day talks stopped. I wont cross a picket line, but I also know the members in my office will kick off when they hear this new plan. Its gonna be hard to motivate them despite the fact that I ran 30 copies of the original RM proposals off and everyone has has a chance to see whats really happening.

Could be suicide for the CWU...looks like this is their last stand...if this doesnt work and the posties lose the fight then the CWU are finished.

There is a risk some members will say fcuk that and go to work as normal especially those wavering and a small drift will turn into a flood. But giving RM Destroy your worklife balance flexible working plans then i dont see much choice but to strike.
I've a feeling that the overwhelming majority of postal workers wil reach the same conclusion as yourself, and that small drift of the weak and shallow,
will remain just that, a small drift. The stakes are far too high. :cool

I'll tell you what lads. I'd rather die in the street than be a lousy scab.

If you don't support the strikes, then go out and buy a drum of lubricant because you are about to be shafted like never before. It will feel like a ten year Strangeways sentence. Don't get me wrong, I will fight this one but am ready to jump if the support for our livelihoods is s**t. I have 2 toddlers & an ever increasing mortgage and would rather be looking for work than working for nowt :lfo :cfo

Evening everyone -

we were informed of the strike action tonight via our Distribution Rep, the last strike action I saw people whom I never ever thought would break a strike and a ex union rep turn in to a scab and become a deputy manager

- the trouble with the latest rounds is people at our office are comfortable with the work and overtime that is offered - they don't get it - seriously don't get it - the amount of acting deputy managers that have been taken on is mind boggling - these turn coat strike breakers don't get it and strike breakers don't get it - Ive tried time and time again to tell the ones who waver that our right to strike and negotiate our pay and conditions are being eroded - and told them when there children and grandchildren are working on short term contracts long hours and holidays that they have to take at the end of there contracts before renewing - they shrug because it doesn't affect them.

We need to stick together but I am fed up with hearing people saying they cannot afford it - I started working for RM 17 years ago I well remember we had the lowest wages going - well below the poverty line - only being made up by long hours of OT. If memory serves me correctly it was because of the strike action back then that we get the kind of pay we do now - which effectively will be frozen and more squeezed out of us till were back to less than what we got paid back then (in real terms) - any one with a family will be on benefits - in a downward spiral of kicking the working class back into the ground, Leighton and Crozier are dragging RM into the realms of cost-cutters pound stretcher and primark - effectively cheapening a once proud company steeped in history.

Its no good preaching to most of you on here - but try telling that to some.

For the loss of 4 days pay you will be able to show them the job doesn't work without US.

We do it, they don't; we manage our drop points, our customers problems; our own deliveries.

They stand around with excel sheets and printed letters telling us what to do, we listen and then they change the goalposts again.

We get told we won't get more than 2.5%, or we won't be spoken to again.

Then we get more than 2.5% (albeit with the obligatory strings); and we get the chance for talks.

Now we stand up again, for 4 days and cripple the mail network; stand together and we can win this, whatever you are told, because it's usually wrong!

Yes, it's a very bold move, and it's meant to make them realise we won't become slaves. We know this job better than those who have to manage it.

Let's show them that we are the people they need. The people who have the local knowledge and the skills. We hold the reins here, not the other way round.

How many managers can you get to cover all those staff?

Yes, you can prep and sort, but can you deliver?

Thankfully, there's more of us, than there are of them, Pochohontas. :Very Happy
