Where have you been? We have been all out for 4 days, and a deal has not be reached. What makes you think by doing this it will be any different? You go unofficial, without union backing and we are back to square one.
Walking unofficial has never been a good idea because if management give in to demands then they know fine well that they are conceding ground, they know they will have to do the same the next time you walk unofficial over summat else. It will NOT work, negotiation backed with official action is the only way.

When the public see you on the news outside your office, they do not see posties sticking up to bullying management, they see a workforce who seems out of control, not even controlled by their union, and we will lose all sympathy and support.

Delivery offices in the liverpool area didnt choose to go out on un official strike, we were forced out.Most offices in the area were brought mail by managers which had been brought from the main sorting office, who had already walked out.We refused to touch this mail, so they stopped our pay. Even though we had lots of mail in the office from yesterday before they went out on strike, which we were willing to deliver. But bosses wouldnt allow this.They said we have to stay in till 10am.Then they arrived at most if not all liverpool offices with this mail, which we refused to touch and all were forced out. And just for point of it, in the past un- official action in our office has worked reguarding getting peoples jobs back. so we should all stick together !

This is why unofficial action is so effective. There's higher stakes on both sides of course, but it's most likely to result in an outright win.

Someone else posted that unofficial action knocks on the head that the strikes are the union pulling the wool over the eyes of the workers - the opportunity is there to go to other workers directly and tell your side rather than rely on official media channels. The news will attack you whatever happens, this doesn't mean losing the support of other workers (many of whom face the same situation at the moment, and in the case of Unison and others are having to fight the collusion of their own union leaderships as well as management) - which in the end is all that matters. Having said that, there's not much sign of any other sector moving things up a step (Unison's even using the post strikes as an excuse for late ballots - wouldn't have been an issue three months ago ffs).

The fact is the Union is not supporting the unofficial action. The official action has done quite a lot. Royal Mail is negotiating with the union, and that is progress.
Sure enuff, there is no agreement for what RM seems to be doing, but every time we walk unofficially we hand over the high ground to Royal Mail. If you do not want to do as the union says and return to work, then cancel your membership. Trust in the union to get us a proper deal and to get this sorted. Unofficial achieves a lot less than official action. All the best to you guys in Liverpool, but I fear this will do more damage than good.

Yeah hundreds wouldn`t be enough, they want to lose 40,000.
For those walking out unofficial, do you really trust the dynamic duo to give you your jobs back because that`s what you`re doing. I wouldn`t trust them as far as I could throw them hence only official action for me, as instructed by my union.
If you`re walking out because of the new start times and you can`t wait for the 2 sides to try and negotiate concerning these, what do you think would be any new contract they may offer you?

i work at liverpool m.l.o., we have not been told to work to the new times, how come you have?, and when were you told?

it was posted on here we had to agree to it as their is a clause in all our contracts that Ryal mail can change our start and finish times you were advised to start at your new times and our area rep said if you wanted ... you could have a local ballot and give your DOM a weeks notice of industrial action whilst working at the new times

i agree with the lads at liverpool 100%,and as for a local ballot on later starts--thats bullshit because our area rep told us we couldnt have one!
