The CWU haven’t accepted that the problem with DM26 is two fold.
1. RM managers are implementing it understaffed and plan to cut more staff in the spring. RM are never going to fully staff it.
2. DM26 itself means a loss in 1 in 4 postie jobs. Those are union members that the union is helping RM to cut.

Instead of helping RM to ‘fix’ DM26, they should be calling for it to be scrapped.
I would personally add:
3. They are bringing it in on top of failed revisions, the PODS have been made up by a postie, which duties in the PODS are the one driver ones has been made up by the manager. Nobody has a clue yet which duty does which "thirds".
4. DM26 makes easy duties even easier, unachievable ones even more unachievable.
5. We've been told we won't do the heavy and large parcels but where are the staff and vans to deliver them? We don't believe it.
6. Half the staff is part-time and not many seem to want more hours.

At this point, considering RM don't seem to want to spend the money on proper revisions, I see the end game as one duty, one van, two frames and post delivered only three times a week, they'd need extra vans but that's a lot cheaper than employing people.
People have been saying it for ages.
1 person, 1 duty, for example 900 houses total. 1st third (300) gets mail mon+thurs. 2nd third (300) gets mail Tues+Fri. 3rd third (300) gets mail Wed+Sat. Mon-Sat All Delivery Points get tracked 1C, Specials etc. Walking 40% of the time, Driving/e trike 60% of the time.
So you'll throw non drivers under the bus :thumbdown
There is very little to stop anyone learning to drive so I don't see this as a problem :Boo hoo!

If they had RM could have well brought in ODM by Exec Action, as they've hardly hung about in introducing DM26 nationwide.
I've said before that the CWU has maybe stalled RM's lurid fantasies for delivery in the past by about a decade but in the end we get there eventually. What are we talking here, then? Months? A year at most. If by the CWU's inaction the ODM had swept across the nation by executive action would anything really be that different? I'll grant you it could be worse, though that just means we'd have reached this crisis point earlier in the year.

I'll settle for being thrown out of a crewbus.
The machine stops.

Absolutely the headline should read CWU calls emergency meeting to save the CWU. The churn is eating into the finances of the Union. Those finances are already in serious trouble. The CWU can't recruit or retain workers. This also means the industry can't use the likes of Walsh to control us. The CWU has no purpose if the industry can't use it as a screw to beat the inmates.

The CWU are to blame. All they had to do was say no go but couldn't even do that.

Let's be honest it's been CWU executive action. Members have told thier reps to say no go and the rep has simply said go.

On the 17th September Martin Walsh said the internet was lying. Turns out the internet wasn't lying after all. Ward, Walsh and any rep who supported DM26 needs to go.

We were told in ours it was a 'no go' by some senior CWU types, due to staffing and other issues within the unit.
A hastily arranged shift pattern vote was arranged a few days later and people were told on a Saturday what their new attendance pattern was with about 36 hours notice.
After about 3 weeks of carnage we got another visit from some area folk telling us all to do the job properly and things will be golden. People were doing the best they could.
