Milton Keynes MPs have signed a letter calling for Royal Mail to take responsibility for delays to postal services across the country.
Labour MPs Emily Darlington (Milton Keynes Central), Chris Curtis (Milton Keynes North) and Callum Anderson (Buckingham and Bletchley) are among more than 100 Members of Parliament that have signed the letter to regulator Ofcom.
It calls on Ofcom to do more to hold Royal Mail to account for failing to meet its targets.
The delivery service is currently expected to deliver 90 per cent of first-class mail by the following day, and 95 per cent of second-class mail within three working days.
All three MPs say they believe this target is regularly being missed across Milton Keynes.
Last month Amanda Marlow, a Conservative councillor for the Watling ward, wrote to the three Milton Keynes MPs asking them to raise concerns about postal delays directly with Royal Mail, and work to fix the problem.
Cllr Marlow said residents in Crownhill and Shenley Church End reported going without post for up to ten days before receiving a backlog of letters all at once.
She also said that some residents in Stony Stratford had reported waiting up to two weeks for some post to arrive.
Emily Darlington, Chris Curtis and Callum Anderson say they have visited sorting offices, organised a petition and brought the issue to the attention of Parliamentary Ministers in a bid to try and improve things.
Chris said: “Since I launched my Time to Deliver petition across Whitehouse and Fairfields over a year ago, postal services across our city have got worse and the problem has spread further.
“I am proud to join my colleagues across the country in calling for the Royal Mail to take responsibility, admit that there is a problem, and knuckle down to secure a solution for everybody who is counting on their post to turn up on time.”
Callum added: “The dire state of our local postal services is one of the issues I hear about most often from residents.
“This simply isn’t good enough. I raised the issue with the then Postal Services Minister, Blair McDougall MP, earlier this year, and I will be following up with Kate Dearden MP as well.”
Emily added: “The delays to post across Milton Keynes are simply unacceptable, and Royal Mail must take responsibility.
“I will continue to campaign on getting high-quality postal services for residents in our city, as no one should be anxious about their important post failing to reach them.”
