Ramsgate is among 140 postcode areas that have been affected by delays in post delivery due to reasons including staff sickness.
Royal Mail says areas affected by high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors, will be serviced by ‘rotating deliveries’ to minimise delays.
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “Most customers in Ramsgate are receiving deliveries daily where there is mail to deliver, but some are receiving deliveries at least every other day due to resourcing challenges.
“We know how important reliable deliveries are and the team is working hard to improve service as quickly as possible. We expect deliveries to return to normal this week as sickness absence has stabilised and we continue to recruit additional posties.”
The company, bought by Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský last year, has faced criticism after just 77% of first-class letters arrived on time last year – well short of the 93% target.
That target has since been reduced by Ofcom to 90% of first-class mail to be delivered within one working day and 95% of second-class mail within three days, although these targets are yet to be hit.
