Amazon have have identified that UK Royal Mail Parcel Collect isn’t completing buyer pickups as intended due to a technical issue. While Royal Mail works to resolve this, Amazon are disabling home collection as an Amazon Prepaid Return Label option for Fulfilled by Merchant order.
Buyers will no longer be able to select Royal Mail Parcel Collect when requesting a Return. All other UK Return methods remain available.
No action is required. Return will automatically route to available methods based on your Return settings. To review your settings, go to Return Settings.
This is a temporary measure while Royal Mail investigates the issue. You should receive a notification from Amazon once the method is re-enabled.
This is an interesting one as I’ve often had a Royal Mail label and simply logged onto the Royal Mail site to book a collection even when it wasn’t offered. This was great when collections were free, but even now the price of 30p in a heat wave or walking down to a Post Office or locker seems like great value.
In truth, most consumers won’t even notice that the collection option is missing – it’s still a relatively new Royal Mail service, so while it’s an annoyance if you know it’s missing, if you don’t know it won’t really affect you as a consumer.
