Postman makes desperate plea over 1 thing people do when answering the door

Postal workers and delivery drivers have a sometimes thankless job. And now one postman has revealed something shocking some people do when they answer the door

Where would we be without Britain's army of postmen and women? Whether you need something urgently, or you've just been on an online shopping spree, they're there rain or shine - and almost always in shorts.

But now one postman has said some people could be a lot more considerate when the doorbell rings. It's natural to be dressed comfortably in your own home, maybe in pyjamas and a dressing gown.

But postman Reece Petch is pleading with people to make sure they are fully clothed when the doorbell rings. Reece frequently documents his delivery experiences on social media, and has revealed he sometimes sees more than he wants to when the door opens, reports the Express.

Beginning his video, Reece stated: "We need to talk some serious business right now, ok? I made a video a few months ago talking about, I don't really care what you come to the door in.

"A lot of people feel insecure about wearing their pyjamas, or wearing their comfy clothes when they come to the door, and that's really stupid. You should never feel like that."

However, he clarified, that doesn't grant complete freedom regarding door-answering attire - or, in certain instances, lack thereof. "I'd be lying if I said some people don't come to the door in nothing," he stated.

He added: "There is this woman who, no matter what time of day I deliver to her, she always answers the door in underwear. Even in the winter.

"She's always done it, and I've just never really, like, thought about it, but delivered to her in the afternoon and she's still doing it, only she does it in the morning. And I'm like, you gonna put some trousers on? Some joggers, some pyjamas, anything? Or you just gonna stand there just like, 'woohey!'".

And she's not the only person who gives Reece quite a fright when answering the door. "There is an old guy that we deliver to, and he genuinely just comes to the door just b***-naked, nothing on at all," he revealed. "[There have been] times where he has come to the door in, like, a t-shirt and just nothing below. He literally looked like Winnie the Pooh. But a common occurrence, apparently, on my delivery route."

He concluded his video with an appeal, saying: "If I deliver to you, please don't answer the door naked. Just for everyone's sake."

Is it illegal to answer the door naked?
There is no law in the UK against answering the door naked, or semi-clothed. In fact, In fact, it is legal to be naked anywhere in the UK, even in public.

However, indecent exposure - intentionally exposing your genitals in a way likely to cause alarm or distress - is illegal, explains Tyler Hoffman Solicitors. This can apply even if someone is naked in their own home, as the act may have been seen by someone outside, been committed against someone else in the home, or have been shared online.

The key difference between indecent exposure and public nudity is the intent. If the intent was to be seen and cause alarm or distress, this is likely to qualify as indecent exposure. Accidentally exposing yourself is generally not treated as indecent exposure.

People convicted of indecent exposure can be jailed for up to two years and be placed on the sex offenders register. Fines or community service may also be imposed, along with court orders or restraining orders.
