A drug dealer who ordered cannabis online was busted when his package was intercepted by suspicious postal workers.
Police were called after staff at the Royal Mail sorting office in Wymondham noticed a pungent aroma coming from a parcel that had been damaged in transit.
Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told it was found to contain two sealed bags bearing the logo of US-based cannabis suppliers Loud Labs.
The order included 285g of Lemon Tree, a potent cannabis strain previously name-checked by hip hop star Snoop Dogg.
Reece Fitt, 22, of Crownthorpe, near Wymondham, was subsequently arrested after being traced from the packaging.
John Cooper, prosecuting, said a search of his home address had seen police discover more cannabis, similar branded vacuum-sealed packaging and drugs paraphernalia.
Analysis of seized mobile phones had found they contained messages on the chat app Telegram related to the buying, selling and growing of cannabis between 2022 and 2025, he added.
A voice note was found to relate to the seized parcel while significant income was identified as coming into a Monzo bank account in his name with £4,800 being transferred to other accounts.
Fitt was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 12 months, after he pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.
District Judge Matthew Bone said though the offence was “very serious” he was persuaded there was a realistic prospect of his rehabilitation.
The court was told he had been subject to peer pressure and had been selling cannabis to fund his own use with “no ambitions to become a big drug dealer”.
Gina Mattioli, mitigating, said being arrested had seen him “take great steps” to turn his life around securing a job working with high-end cars and stopping his cannabis use.
