A FITTING tribute was paid as the town of Dalmellington said goodbye to a local legend.
Tom Paulin sadly passed away last month, a few months after celebrating his 100th birthday.
As part of the major celebrations, Tom received hundreds of birthday cards from all around the world, following a public plea to mark the special occasion.
Having grown up in the area, Tom became a familiar face to many after serving as the local postman for decades.

A service to remember Tom's life was held at the Kirk of the Convent in Dalmellington on Tuesday, March 3.
Incredibly, around the same time as the service was taking place, the Kirk's postbox received its first ever letter- which served as a fitting tribute to Tom.
Councillor for Doon Valley and a man who knew Tom well, Drew Filson said: "We said goodbye to our beloved postman Tom Paulin at 100 years old at the Kirk of the Convent.
"At the same time the funeral service was on, the Kirk of the Convent's letterbox, having never had a letterbox, received our first letter to our newly installed post box.
"How so nice and so apt.
"What a great turnout and a beautiful service for a gentleman."
