People in a Sheffield neighbourhood are waiting up to four weeks for post, amid claims of Royal Mail restrictions on overtime.
One Nether Edge resident said she had received reports of a build up of letters due to “bad weather” at Sheffield South Delivery Office on Woodseats Road in Woodseats.

Royal Mail cost-cutting restrictions on overtime meant workers were unable to tackle the backlog, she claims.

The concerned resident said: “Having received minimal letters for weeks, our street in Nether Edge has become concerned.
“There's a backlog of up to four weeks for letters at Sheffield South sorting office.

“I have given up waiting for my delivery from an independent business and ordered next day delivery on Amazon instead. Not what I want to be doing.

“Also - important bills, fines, hospital appointments, one can only imagine the impact for others.

“Post Office workers have said they now have an overtime restriction which has caused the build-up of piles of unsorted letters. They want to work, but can't.

“They say there is no way they can fix the issue as it stands...as they can't do the work.

“It's an ill-thought out cost-cutting measure”.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said the vast majority of mail in the Sheffield South area was being delivered as expected, and overtime was used “where it is necessary.”

They added: “Earlier this month, periods of poor weather caused some local disruption, but deliveries have continued.

“Where short-term issues have occurred, managers are prioritising clearance and monitoring performance closely to ensure regular deliveries across all routes.

“We use overtime where it is necessary, and it has not been stopped.

“January is typically a lower-volume month following Christmas, so the need for overtime is reduced compared with peak periods.”

Amazing local newspapers take the word of one resident as gospel? Whilst an OT ban will lead to backlogs there's no reason post isn't being delivered and if she uses Amazon there's a reasonable chance RM will deliver it anyway, in fact that could explain why my DO seems to be inundated with Amazon LATs recently.

Criminy, the aftereffects of this storm are second only to the Grote Mandrenke.
Any Questions?
Yeah, how do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?
