Lichfield MP calls for debate on “growing crisis” surrounding postal service

Labour’s Dave Robertson has previously written to Ofcom after receiving more than 150 complaints from local residents about delayed deliveries across Lichfield and Burntwood.

And now he is working with Redditch MP Chris Bloore to co-ordinate 60 MPs from across the political divide who have applied for a Backbench Business debate in the House of Commons over concerns about the state of postal services.

Mr Robertson has previously met with Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union, but despite assurances things would improve, the MP said local people were still seeing medical appointment letters arriving late, vital documents going missing and bills being delivered after payment deadlines.

He said:

“These failures are not just inconvenient – they are causing real harm.

“Constituents have told me about NHS appointment letters arriving after the scheduled date, and important correspondence being missed entirely. This situation is simply unacceptable
