ROYAL Mail has responded after complaints of little or no deliveries in certain areas of Warrington.

This comes off the back of widespread delays nationally for delivery services at the start of January due to the severe snow and icy weather.

Residents in Warrington have reported that delays to post being delivered are "still ongoing" in certain postcode areas.

A resident said on the post: "What on earth is happening with Royal Mail deliveries in Warrington?

"It was announced in December some delays to postcodes WA1, WA2, WA4 and WA5.

"Why is this still ongoing? For many it’s not just delays it’s NO post at all."

The commenter continued by referring to the Royal Mail issues as an "absolute joke and totally unacceptable".

These issues were echoed by other residents in the comments, with one person saying: "Once a week if I'm lucky."

Another added that they have received hospital letters three to four weeks after their appointment was due.

Addressing complaints of delays, a spokesperson for Royal Mail said they want to "reassure customers that deliveries continue daily".

They said: "We know how important timely letter deliveries are and want to reassure customers that deliveries continue daily, with the vast majority of items arriving as expected."

Referring to weather conditions having affected the postal network, they added: “There have been short-term pressures on some routes.

"Christmas is our busiest period, with volumes more than doubling, and poor weather earlier this month also affected some deliveries.

"We’re working to restore a regular and reliable service across all routes.”
