If you go back to work after self cert for 7 days, have your return to work, but during that day you are sick and have to go home and consequently go sick, is that classed as 1 absence or 2 separate ones?

2 periods of absence, but during any stage review it would not be difficult to link them to the same reason which might be considered as mitigation.
