Im certain that I was in receipt of driving allowance from the year 2000 but was told by management that it had been terminated.Is there any way HR would be able to confirm or do they not keep records that far back?

I started in 1997 and was driving but i have never had the driving allowance?
should i have been receiving it?

The criteria for retaining the reserved rights driving allowance was that you remained in the same job as of January 2000 so if you were in receipt of the allowance before then and have continued to drive for Royal Mail then you should still have it.

If you've never had it because before.January 2000 you weren't assessed for driving you can't have it.

I don't receive driving allowance and was driving before 2000 have argued this with hr who was going to pay it but dom stopped it ..so therefore I must be a non driver as started at 16

I was in receipt of driving allowance since 1989.In 2005 I was moved onto a duty that qualified for high top allowance @ £23.In 2007 thatduty was discontinued and I took up another driving duty with a transit van.My allowance stopped.It was only by a chance conversation at the end of last year that I found out that others who were driving were still in receipt of the £6 driving allowance.My understanding is that when the high top allowance ceased I should have reverted to the £6 allowance that I should be receiving to this day.Is my reasoning correct?

I would argue in the spirit of the agreement yes, but in the actual words it's doubtful. By moving to the hightops you forfeited your reserved rights driving allowance, when the high top finished you can't get it back.

I was taken out for a 2 hour driving assessment in 1994 on a 7.5tonne but maybe because that was at Glasgow m/c and had just left a d/o as walking postman. It was just because fishtank said about no testing before 2000. Also it was done in-house by class 1 instructor's from RM driver training and not pertemps or crap like that.

I didnt choose to switch to high top,the duty I was on merged with another one so I lost mine.Im certain I should still be receiving the allowance I need evidence thats all.

You don't need evidence, you need advice.
Every case like this depends on the individual circumstances because the actual agreement (The Way Forward and the Allowances appendix) doesn't specifically address your position. Agreements would be hundreds of pages long if they did.

What you need to do is raise the matter with your rep who'll probably kick it upstairs to the branch, contact HR for their position and then when you get both opinions depending on the outcome decide on your next move.

In my humble opinion I don't think it's got legs but I could be wrong.

How far back to HR keep records of our wages? If they dont go back to 2003 then I havent got a leg to stand on.

Swintontillidie. Yes if you were moved onto another duty then you should have still had grandfather rights from day one. The high top payment should have been protected for 3 years then down to the 6 pound right up until today. Don't even bother your Dom as he will just see several years that your owed and talk s**t. Go to your rep or area rep and HR. You are due it if it worked out the way that you say the duties were changed. And don't forget the £23 per week, pay protection for 3 years also. Even though I've left I'm still amazed sometimes about the amount of staff getting totally different wages and even terms and conditions for the exact same jobs. Hope you get it as your entitled. I was getting post bus allowance no joke havnt even drove one in me life I am a driver just don't open me wage slip
