BEING A REP

HI , I'm interested in becoming a union rep in our office, would I get chance to go onto different courses like the safety reps do, I believe they can get the chance to do there diplomas in safety etc. also what else would I get out of it, the main reason I want to do it is I'm willing and able to tell management that things ain't right and am willing and able to get stuck in with them to move forward, I have 20yrs in delivery and now want to get more involved but learn as well, thanks

yes, you are entitled to paid leave to attend courses but be warned it can be as frustrating as it is sometimes very rewarding, well done for putting yourself forward and good luck.

Im also interested in being a rep but have some reservations.

Do you get paid if you are over your time due to having meetings with manager or spending time advising other staff members.
