Long Weekends and Saturdays for a reserve (holiday cover)

Hi i wondered if anybody could help me, im a reserve postie so only cover holidays although i know 17 different rounds so im hardly ever in my section because i get moved around alot, the only problem with that is i never ever get a long weekend, and very few saturdays off, i asked my DOM if im entitled to have a long weekend and he said no i just get what ever im given, i asked him if that was 100% true because im not being treated fairly against other members of staff that do get long weekends and his reply was just " well what do you want me to do about it?? how do you suppose i fix the rota to do that??" im getting know where at all and other reserves are wanting to know more about this too as they never get long weekends either, thanks in advance!

you are entitled to one long weekend every six week or something like that. Don't believe the Dom's excuses. Talk to Union Rep, if no good, then Area Union Rep. Use Grievance report if needed to. Reserve need more respects.

not quite true unfortunately, she is entitled to 1 saturday off in 6, but not necessarily to the Monday off as well

Similar here. No w/ends off etc. Worked it out that I get at about 1 in 8 and thats only coz some was A/L etc.

So, I requested a 3 day week to cram in 25hrs in, Family member is ill, asked for Family Friendly hrs, told, "OK, you can have it, but not for FF reasons"... but that was nearly 6 weeks ago.

Still waiting etc...

I was in the same position as the OP for some time, and got the same response, all you are entitled to is a day off, no entitlement to regular saturdays. I took it to rep and he checked higher up the chain, and I got nowhere in the end.
This is the same for very many reserves, and it is grossly unfair.
