Saturday off..
I have been working for royal mail for 6 months and have had one saturday off every 6 weeks as stated in my contract.last week was due to be my long weekend but the dom put me on a walk that had a different day off.Were do i stand on this? As i have now missed my 1 in 6 so will have no saturday off for 12 weeks.Can they do this? I have children and enjoy my saturdays off,1 in 6 is not alot so to take it away from me is out of order,he didnt ask me he just told me.

your lucky some lads in our office dont get a sat off at all.
and yes they can do what they want as long as you work your hours.

10 years for me. However, if the local agreement is 1 of in 6 then for reserves though it cannot be guaranteed it certainly should roughly average out over the year. Missing one is probably not worth kicking off about, but I would chance my arm with the manage and see if they could arrange a replacement Saturday off in the next 6 weeks.maximus12 wrote:I've not had a saturday off in 7 months!

Most in my office get 1 in 4 Saturdays off. However if your a reserve you basically get what your given with 1 in 4 being given if possible. My advice would be put a grievance in about this if it happens regularly.
This sort of thing may have been discussed in your resource meetings, so speak to your rep first about the issue.

get used to it it is not going to change we have ten spare duties in our office and the dick dom wont put them on the board, there is lads at ours who could be having long weekends who have put the time in but cant get a duty they should have, so they can save hours, and they wonder why people go sick over the weekend
