Cant Help Crossing The Picket Line.

I have to say I felt pretty sorry for the drivers who a few weeks ago were put in a position where they had no option but to cross picket lines where they started at a time before mail centres putting them in a position of I believe emotional turmoil.
And although once a shift starts you have to finish im sure this wont have helped nurture the upset I would have felt if I was put in that position.

during the next bout of I/A ( rolling strike ) complete discipline must be shown, this will be best represented by there being no picket lines, it will avoid the need of putting members in akward positions. a couple of members in a car outside your DO or mail centre would surfice to make sure there would be no members tempted to cross.

We have all got to be cool-headed during the rolling action.

Whatever we do we must not allow management to engineer a situation that can lead to all-out strikes locally which could spread to a national basis. That's what the management want so they can starve us back. And they tried it the last time in Scotland where we had 3/4 days unofficial action on top of the rolling official programme. Took a mass meeting in Glasgow for everyone to realise that management had taken control of our strike, so we put the cool head on and screwed them.

The rolling strikes will absolutely cripple the network - it did it last time and the crunch will come quicker this time because of increased mail and the four days of strikes.

AL is caught between a rock and a hard place - what a pity - as logistically he should be telling people not to post unless they have to but this would send the balloon up and everyone including politicians and business mailers would realise how close the business is to collapse.

So keep telling everyone its fine AL and keep telling them your moving 45 per cent of the mail and people will continue to post and clog up the system even more.

I had to cross at the end of my shift last Thursday but I stopped to give them some support and a Hoot on the way back out so in a way I think it was positive overall.

Yes I helped set up the line at my DO on Thursday and had a laugh pretending to drag drivers out of their cabs and other such messing around. When the managers came over though we blanked them.

I was driving the line last week, 10am start thursday. Stopped the van an chatted with the fellas on the line, then confronted (in a friendly manner) by my manager.
"if you stop there, parked with the van, you are performing unofficial action, please move on, now"
Is that a fact, reply from a rep?
