A bit of advice please

So we got introduced Phase 3 in our office which basically means if you come back early from your walk even including your lapsing you will be asked to do more which i do agree cause there is nothing we can do about it but when you have OT if you come back early you still have to do Phase 3 and then when your time is gone you take your OT out that gets me a bit p*** off specially cause you can only prep it in the morning you can't even tie and bag it up ready when you come back i'm just wondering if this is the right procedure ??

I suppose technically it is correct. If they are paying you overtime to do it, then it shouldn't be done in normal paid time.

I suppose there are 3 options open to you in this situation.

1. Take it on the chin and do as they say - don't forget the extra breaks if you go over the qualifying limits.
2. Do the OT but don't claim the work that you do in paid time - tell them you can do this and get their agreement.
3. Jack in doing OT till they go back to the old system, or get fed up of doing it themselves.

.... if youve any concerns regarding unfair work practises bullying/harrassment non caring attitude of doms etc... contact your union rep...look for the signs of ciggy smoke and the smell of a nice cup of tea..you really are on ya tod at this shameful shambles AKA royal mail....glad my days are numbered..

a bit of update on this i recently found out that our 2 reps agreed to this without telling us nothing they are a bit like that though wich i asked many times if this is the way reps work they make a decision without consulting us and we have to follow is that right??

Overtime is called overtime for a reason.
It shouldn't be done within contracted hours...otherwise it wouldn't be called overtime,it would be called undertime or more likely absorption,lapsing or just part of your shift from now on..
I'm not sure what the problem is to be honest.
If you don't want the overtime,don't do it.

Work all your paid hours.
It is very simple.
Your reps didn't agree to anything that wasn't agreed to years ago.
If people like you had been stopped from doing ghost docket years ago it wouldn't be such a culture shock.

lol don't shoot me yet fair enough i should look for information first then i didn't know about the 2007 agreement and you are right it was a culture shock that is why i gave it back today plus a cut off ;) lol

Because they want to go home at 9am, so don't want to cause ructions.

Ghost overtime is ridiculous. It just incites people to cut corners on their own delivery. I remember, when this was at it's height, I would often see people doing their own round + overtime, yet still get back before others who were just doing their own duties. It just shows how messed up working practices have become, that this is still being seen as acceptable.

Ultimately though, more fool managers for paying people overtime, when they could be sending out early finishers, to do more work for nothing. Wish I worked there!

I know it's becoming boring now but i'm just trying to get an idea if this is wrong or maybe it's be being stubborn here and in the wrong but here you go what's happened today right i am conformed that we have to start our overtime after our shift is done as you guys told me it's part of the old agreement but here's what happened so today as usual they came and ask people to cover the walks out as usual so a 2 colleagues took it and it was mentioned to them that they couldn't touch it not even bundle it up so one of them then said fair enough i can't do it then But this is the interesting bit The rep got offered the OT and he was able to take it out early because managers told him there wasn't a phase 3 so please tell me off if i'm being a pr*** but isn't this one rule for one one rule for others?? and apparently he is the one that as been making sure the managers don't allow people to take it out early so if guys gave me your advice that would be great i might be in the wrong don't know just a bit confused....

so basically people throw the overtime back cause they get upset cause he is the one going into the managers and kicks off about it and then he takes it... how the hell does that work? is there a post with the old agreement about this? please
