Re: can RM take driving allowance off u
do not know for sure but i doubt it
the only time they could do this would be after six months when you go on ssp
but needs to be confirmed
what allowance is this
600 money or normal van

Re: can RM take driving allowance off u
Yes they can. Prior to the way forward you got Night Duty allowance and driving allowance only on the days you worked. After the way forward you got shiftmallowance and driving allowance 52 weeks per year including when you were on annual leave and sick leave less thann 2 months. So if you have been off sick for more than 2 months than Royal Mail can stop your allowance and your shift allowance. The only exception is if you are a professional driver or if your absence was caused by an accident on duty.

If you are off sick - you lose all allowances after 8 weeks :(
Edit - Dingo - even if you are a professional driver you lose any allowances other that your "professional Drivers pay" after 8 weeks and you also lose your allowances after an AOD. (I know this for a fact - even after a stage 3 grievance WITH union representation)
You can however try and recoup those losses via an insurance claim which I have done successfully.

Daf sorry if it confusing but meant to have said that your driving allowance is then in your basic pay as a professional driver. Allowances all stop at 8 weeks.

Re: can RM take driving allowance off u
do not want to go off topic but
do we have any threads on staff who get professional drivers money (600) that is now incorporated into the basic pay,
and do they get the £20 delivery supplement if attached to a delivery office also
just curious
any links to relevant threads would be nice

Re: can RM take driving allowance off u
it was to do with not exceeding the 48 hour max working week
as you could not go over 40 hour duty and 8 hour overtime, this was the professional drivers allowance
i have it incorporated now into my basic pay even though i have not driven a 600 in 18 months,
its worth about £60 a week
but i do not get the £20 delivery supplement even though i am attached to a delivery office
and i am not the only one either
