signing in and finish time

im a new start postman contracted to 24 hours..is there an overtime sheet if i work over my hours , not that im looking for overtime ? i know ware to siggn in each day but when i filled in my actual finish time the managers assistant or what ever she said what are you doing you dont have to fill anything out just you sign in she said...was i right to fill in the rest or was she correct in making me not ?

It may be different in each office but at my office we sign in and out at both ends of the delivery - or finish time next day if we dont go back. But we have a different sheet for Overtime (in RM its called docket) which we do fill in a well.

Check with the Union bloke or the neighbouring frame when you go in on Monday.

You MUST sign out for health and safety reasons. If there is a fire in the building the signing sheet will be used to check if anyone is still inside/missing. That is what we have always been told and you should tell the managers this. I'm sure head office would give them a severe telling off for this practice. Sounds to me like the management are trying to stop people claiming OT by filling in the finish times themselves? A lot of people don't bother signing out in our office but to be told not to seems very wrong.

OT sheet is seperate and we tell manager before we go out what OT is likely to be thern tell them on return or fill in sheet ourselves.

My thoughts exactly. Why would they tell you not to put in your finishing times? Keep a seperate note of the time you do finish.

I'd imagine one of the tasks of the managers in a fire, along with evacuating as much of the building as they can, is to safely evacuate the one document that tells them WHO and HOW many people are in said burning building. Ofcourse they probablly will have all gone home early so it will be left behind so yes it probablly is fire proof for that reason.
