Does anyone know how much time is allocated to prep D2D's within your duty?
Although i'm full-time myself, it concerns me that the last agreement on leaflets was back in 1996(job has since changed considerably)we now have part-timers coming in on 25 hour contracts, basically just told you have to deliver them without explanation, but is it feasible to expect this in an 1hour1/2 on top of an evermore increasing workload.
surely this needs addressing as more and more are now on part-time/casual contracts, and with the imminent increase in D2D's against same duty time it just doesn't add up!

With the SDD it was as you were....
The Introduction of a Single Daily Delivery.Doc
I can't remember anything happening in 2004,as far as i'm aware it's as you were again.
D2D negotiations are still going on now but that's how many we can do for how much money.
How can any office revisions be happening if we don't know how many D2D's we'll be doing!!!!
Rumours are that they will already be sorted into a type of plastic pouch/letter/leaflet type thing so we'll only have 1 to throw up.
But if they're not then you've got a 100% thrown in after everything else every day.
But then what about the weight...................
Shouldn't the D2D's be sorted 1st!!!!!!
Both parties are also committed to reviewing the future arrangements for Door-to-Door. However, given the scale of
change already in the move to single deliveries, it has been agreed that the existing Door-to-Door arrangements will continue
for the time being. A review of Door-to-Door will be carried out during 2004 to establish whether the existing arrangements
should be revised following the deployment of single deliveries.

D2D
They will tell you that because you are getting a separate payment for the items they can not include them in call rate calculations but this is stupid as is is going to increase our call rates! So i would say anyone in negotiations about D2D get reps to stick dissagreaments in if they do not agree to include them.

Any manager worth his RM salt will look you in the eye and tell you repeatedly that you get no prep time for D2D. This is a bullying intimidation bluff designed to get you to do your prep at home, why? It's simple. If you were to prep your D2D before you go out, or to carry (at the moment) 3 leaflets and prep them at each doorstep, you would either book pressure O/T or cutoff as you would miss the Van back. After a confrontation with a Lino I decided to prep my D2D before I go out, I prep a 1/4 of my walk each day (none on Sat= 1/4). I usually miss the Van and a Lino has to run me out, Oh I forgot,
and I usually leave a row in because of it. SO! call the RM bluff and prep your D2D after you have tied up and you are doing your job properly----------I'm going for a ride on my KAWASAKI

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Are you actually allowed to take these D2D's home? I used to take these home on my bike but as many will know, some weeks you simply cannot do this - there's too much of it.
If you go into the office before your official start time, you are not insured.
So then you have to go back to the office after your finish your walk. In that case, job and finish is meaningless.
I don't that there is any proper way to actually prep D2D's.

Technically you're not supposed to take them home, you're not allowed to take mail home it's the same thing.
Was told by area reps that unfortunately if there is a signing on sheet at your work and you sign it when you come in you are insured
Not sure where all this has come from and this obviously need to be addressed and people need to be told...........
D2D'S DO NOT HAVE TO BE PREPPED IN YOUR OWN TIME!!!!
IT IS YOUR JOB TO DO THEM SO PART OF YOUR DUTY!!
IF YOUR DUTY FAILS BECAUSE OF DOING THEM THEN TOUGH!! LET THEM SORT IT!
Sorry for shouting but people need to be told of this bollox!

Your dead right Postie, this seriously needs challenging by the union.
i mean your manager says it okay to take them home and bring them back,as it's unaddressed mail, but if you fail to
deliver them you could be in trouble.(or is it okay not to deliver them as long as you don't claim for them?)
anyhow check your walk log book and it will tell you 20% per day,so i would recommend to only prep and deliver that
amount and if it means booking over so be.

D2D should be preped and delivered at aprox 20% of your delivery a day (20% a day means after 5 the d2d is del) now, depending on your rest day/floater will determine wether or not you are achieving this. If you cant and to del D2D will take you over your time, assuming you are only del the agreed 20% you must let your lino know and ask him what is HE going to do about it, it is NOT your responsibility to make arrangements for the delivery if it goes over 3 1/2 hrs under SDD (town walks) he then has to make alternative arrangments for the delivery.
If you think they can get away with it then they can! fight for your rights!!
