MAILSORT 3

Post by Danelectro »

Can anyone tell me how they implement the ' mailsort 3 on a Saturday agreement' in their office?

Ive been pulled up for leaving it on Saturday, manager says all mailsort in your mech tray is due for delivery, only if a separate bundle of mailsort 3 which is asap can be left (we used to get this separate bundles of mailsort 3 but they havnt been seen for months!and of course im suspicious)

Any quick replies would be appreciated as management have been trying to get me on all sorts of things recently, performance issues, unjustified stage warning, manager following me round delivery in his car etc etc

I think the DOM made be right on the mailsort 3(though previously i have found out that delivery support and other brown nosers were taking off due for delivery stickers on the flats,so trust is an issue!) but the rest is a joke.cheers

AT my DO anything with a Bold M in the corner (MS 3 Obviously :Very Happy ) is held over till Monday even if it comes in with other mech.

However to make my day easier on Monday I will normally, although not always, take them if I am going there anyway.

Id still like it clarified as my management are saying that the coded tray has mailsort due for delivery in it,and as i dont know much about the mail centre he says the mail centre has the means to identify!

My position at the minute is - agreement says mailsort 3 not on a Saturday etc and unless he can show me how he knows mailsort 3 is identified then im nae listenting.

Also like yourself i normally take mailsort 3 where im going, leave top floors etc,but Saturday was busy and ive been blowing election material out my arse all week, you know the drill....

In my office we have the option, I don't even run it in until I've tied up...............I'm a reserve so it's always left for me so I never take it, normally about a tray of flats and 2 bundles of letters, all contact lenses are mailsort as well, saves taking those suckers but in response to your question, think it comes down the the local agreements again, get your union rep to find out :)

yup, though often managers will try and pressure you to take it
makes no difference how it gets to your frame
only caveat to that would be if it was streamed mail from the day before

Unlikely as holding back the mailsort was an enabler for an earlier finish on a saturday.
That whole idea is kind of redundant now. :cuppa

We were told when the new agreement was being discussed that everything would be required to go on Saturdays if the agreement goes through due to the later finishing time.

The original point of this, IIRC was that M3 arriving bagged on Friday was due Sat/Mon so could be rolled until Mon to support an earlier finish.

The advent of intercepting bagged traffic and opening at mail centres has taken a lot of this control away.

M3 should still arrive on a Friday lunchtime, and ideally with a yellow label to identify it as due Sat/Mon, which is fine to hold til Monday.
If it turns up in a mech or manual tray on Saturday morning mixed with other mail there's no way of knowing whether it's:
a) due Sat/Mon or
b) late and should have been delivered on Friday

This is the most likely reason why there's a distinction being made about how it gets to your frame - if it's M3 in a full York of M3 properly labelled, everyone can be sure it's not due, if it turns up anywhere else you can't be certain, and obviously some are prepared to risk it and some aren't.

And you can be pretty sure that if the workplan moves to all six days being the same this won't apply any more.

Single delivery agreement still holds the field."Significantly shorter Saturdays means mailsort stays"
