Thank you for signing up to this service. Our intention is to keep you up to date with any developments regarding possible industrial action.
We are hugely disappointed to confirm that the CWU has given us notice of strike action. The strike will start at 7pm on Thursday July 12th 2007, and continue throughout Friday 13th July.
Please note this strike does not affect Royal Mail's operations in Northern Ireland, with the exception of Special Delivery guarantees, which will be suspended for the whole of the UK.
We have well-developed contingency plans in order to reduce the effect of the strike, but disruption is inevitable.
What does it mean for you?
We regret that Royal Mail will not be able to collect mail from businesses during the strike period
Please bring planned mailings forward where possible, to avoid the strike
Access to Royal Mail services is available on strike days - but limited to a single collection from Post Boxes outside of Post Offices, and from the Post Offices not affected by strike action. Collections may be earlier than the advertised times
We will attempt to deliver Special Delivery items, but this cannot be guaranteed, and so the money-back guarantees on these services will be suspended for items posted on Thursday 12th July and Friday 13th July. In addition the Saturday Guarantee will also be suspended for Special Delivery items posted on Friday 13th July
Parcelforce's guaranteed services will remain unaffected
Royal Mail's Branch Direct, Sameday and Door to Door services remain unaffected
All other mail services will be subject to delay
We aim to return to normal as quickly as possible. We deal with the backlog of mail in date order, which may affect mail services in the days after strike action.
In the majority of the country our clear up operations have gone very well however our actions have been hampered in the North and East due to the recent adverse weather conditions.
Strike action at some Post Office branches
Separately the CWU has announced strike action at all of the Crown Post Offices in the Post Office Network, on Monday 16th July, between 14.30 and 19.00, and on Thursday 19th July, between 06.00 and 12.00, Please note this action does not affect the other 14,000 sub-post offices available nationwide.
Please log on to our website, www.royalmail.com for the latest developments and to see how you can work with us to minimise the disruption to your mail.
