Best plan of action on return?

Post by jinglejangle »

Best plan of action on return
Obviously we are going to have two days mail when we return.Suppose there is gonna be quite a bit of intimidation by management for posties to work excess to complete their two days delivery.

Whats the best plan of action?
Work to rule and cut off cos isnt Saturday under our contracts meant to be a day that is lighter than a working class day.

I feel RM will enjoy the grief it brings on cos they think the next strike we will think twice about not going in due to the amount when we do go back.

Was openly told with a smirk by area manager that walks will not go out on the strike day and RM just concentrating on specials/collections.

I'm just going to go to work in the morning as normal, do what i can without dragging it out and see what sort of time i'll get out. If it looks like i'll be late i'll make it known i cant complete and that'll be that! Most of us in the office will be in the same boat. We'll only get paid for 8 hours so i'm only going to work for 8 hours. There wont be any docket paid for pressure overtime so why break your back for to clear it!

We were allowed in by the lino when he went out to use the toilet.
Was quite a bit of work layed out and about 6 yorks left.
Will be tight tomm, but the mood on the line today suggests a mass cut off.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Rumour has it that we won't be getting any manual mail sent down from Cambridge MC at all tomorrow, so all we will have is thursday night's mail plus whatever they run through the machines on friday. It'll still be heavy of course. Monday will be the worst day!
I'm a Postman at the Henley Road Delivery Office in Cambridge.

MADELIN4 PUT THE QUESTION TO YOUR SCREW, IF YOU WILL BE OVER YOUR TIME. HE MUST TELL YOU WHAT TO DO, IE EITHER LEAVE THE MAIL IN FRAME,TAKE & RETURN WHATEVER IS LEFT AFTER YOU HIT YOUR KNOCK OFF TIME, TAKE YOUR BREAK, LEAVE ENOUGH TIME TO GET BACK TO YOUR OFFICE , WORK TO YOUR TIME

Additionally, any individual who proceeds to deliver mail when they are not being paid to do so could potentially make any claim for compensation, etc, void if an accident occurs, as they may NOT be covered by the employers insurance liability
All employees are covered by RM insurance at work and therefore, would be covered even if they did not claim overtime when delivering mail. If I have misunderstood please let me know.

Nelson Hi, this is a copy from A/U/Rep, the operative words `when they are not being paid to do so` and `MAY` I guess, covers it? I stand to be corrected.
