Strike DAY - Day off

Post by tyconuk »

Hi People
I would just like too know if the twenty percent of staff, who's day off it is, when we strike next week. Will they still get paid or will the two dicks :cfo :lfo put it in their pot for their bonus, that they like too give themselves.

think of it like this mate, they cant prove that you wouldnt have gone in if it wasnt your day off. but I wouldnt be surprised if they tried to deduct pay from "day-off" people

Another way to look at it is, you will have worked your contracted hours for that week, so they can't deduct anything for simply working as you do normally.

Those on strike would have only worked 4 out of 5 of their days, and then have 2 rest days. You would have worked 5 out of 5 days.

And those on annual leave will be using a day of their annual leave, and be entitled to that day off and not get docked for 1 days pay.

With annual leave entitlement being between 4-6 weeks leave depending on service or buying annual leave. I don't know if it's the case everywhere, but in the MDEC we don't have leave in December, so it would stand to reason that 10-15% of the workforce would be on holiday anyway, and still get paid for the strike day.

Unfortunately because of the Road Transport Act and the Working Time Directive it happens to be my day off on the friday as well, but then I am spending all my days off campaigning to keep the support strong. If there is another round of strikes called and it is a saturday sunday I lose half a weeks pay as I am on 3 day weeks and 4 days weeks etc etc. Its swings and roundabouts. The last thing we should be doing is picking fault in those that are either on holiday or rest day or sick leave etc thats just what the bastards want you to do.

I am spending tomorrow distributing leaflets in my town and I am on annual leave. I cannot swap my rest day as my time is governed by the RTD.

Anyway, united we stand divided we fall if the strike breakers wanna work then f@#k 'em all

i'm confused because it is my day off and as is our union reps. we have been told by our manager that we cannot go on the picket line, if we do we will get a days pay deducted. i cant see how they can do that as we wouldn't be paid for that day anyway and we would still have worked 40 hours this week

if its your day of you will be paid for the 5 days you have worked.. so they cannot stop your money for the strike day.

I'm also going to be on the picket line Friday even though I'm on leave this week. Gotta have a show of strength. And if we have to go out again I probably will lose some pay, then so be it.
