Getting back to the delivery office??

Just wondering how/where other people pouch off. In our delivery office we can pouch off at a local post office, but we tried to cut the amount of people using private cars but was told by DOM that he would not provide lifts back to the office for people to pouch off and then get there private cars to go home. So we have a situation where postmen are dropped 3 miles away from office to do a delivery and then told to find your own way back at the end of the delivery. There is no local agreement, does anyone know if theres a national agreement? and if so could they put one on here for me to download. thanks for any help in advance.

we have the same propblem where i am. all of our walk's are away from our DO we're 2 office's in 1. we've been told if we go out on the van's we have to make our own way back to collect our car's. so what we now do is pouch of bag's for the van's and then make our own way out to the walk and then wait for the work to arrive.

To me this is the main reason why postmen use there cars on delivery. Intil an agreement is made private cars will always be used for deliveries.

I'm sure in previous times you would have been conveyed & brought back in RM time & expense. This is again RM taking liberties with you, you should look at your colleges who use/ have been using their cars for the cause of the problem.

i believe royal mail either have to give you a bike or get you back to the office(dont be told otherwise by a manager).
and as was previously stated the travel time has to be included in the delivery time.
not sure but if they give you a bike it has to be a certain distance from the office(ie not to far away).
please feel free to say if this is officially wrong but have been told by every union rep i have spoke to that this is correct

Soon it won't be a problem, thousands of new vans to replace walking and bike duties will mean everyone HAS to return to the office everyday.

it really annoys me that these situations occur. The sooner the union, gives reps a bit more of an insentive to do their job eg add £2 per week, from every member in the office they are representing to pay the rep to do a job for there members. The only insentive in the union is for the senior leaders. Pay the reps and they will dedicate their lives to what they believe in. No wonder we can't stick together. Wimbledon CWU. Get your arses in gear. You have the opportunity to be a massive backed up union with thousands of dedicated members, or we will crumble. Your choice Dave Ward and Billy Hayes. Pull all the reps together at a special meeting and give them some proper insentive to go for the post, be interested in the post and want to stay in the post of union rep.
Otherwise these so called managers will walk all over us and believe me, we will all crumble.

My solution is quite simple. Walk the 3 miles back to the office. Using RM's guidelines it should only take you 45 minutes! Add on 10 minutes pouching off time as well and you'll have to finish your delivery 55 minutes before your duty time ends. Yes, it will mean cutting off, every single day. It's a case of management cutting of their nose to spite their face, so play their game. Work to your time and it's their problem.

sorry guys one other thing, if i was to catch a bus to work but it got me there 10 minute's late (but this is my first avaliale public transport would that be ok,. Is there an agreement on this? Thanks to everyone for there comments on the other problem.

where my walk finishes there is no bus stop, so i walk 10-15 mins to bus stop wait about 10-15 mins for a bus then journey takes 20mins, so it is about 1 hour give or take and this is in work time..
