One of the guys in our office has just been off with work related stress, because he says his delivery is too big. Now that he has come back the manager has agreed to have his delivery tested, but they're not going to test it with him on it. They're using the reserve.
Surely it should be the regular postman, who has actually requested that the round gets tested that should be on it when it gets tested, not the reserve ?
Does the reserve have the right to refuse to be on the delivery when they want to test it ?
Please can someone clarify the rules on delivery testing ?

My understanding from my own experience is that they can test with someone else but must also test with you. I was tested with my union rep and DOM in attendance for my whole duty and then another test was done on my day off again with the reserve and the DOM and union rep. great thing was he was slower than me on a quieter day nothing has been said about my walk speed since funnily.

Thanks, for that, so tell me if i read your post wrongly, they have to test it with both the reserve and regular postman ? not just the reserve ?

You really have to get the most average working postie to do it.
We've got one,if he does the testing,he's so slow,we'd have to cut the duty in half to finish it!

I am not sure of the veracity of this story but at my DO a few years ago the Manager went out to test a walk and he couldn't keep up with the postie - told him to slow down as he was getting knackered. Apparently 1/2 way round he cancelled the test 
. The next test was done with the manager in his car so the postie used all the ginnels and alleyways to confuse him.

they should be done with the work place coach used for delivery (unless a suitable alternative is agreed) with a trained manager to record the test, involvement of local health and safety rep to ensure WPQ1 is up to date, to certify bag matrix is followed correctly, update coach on best delivery methods and would also be involved in other health and safety related issues to walk testing.
