I do know a few people from this industry , dare say there will be a few on here too - ex PCD / Platform / TPO - outside looking in

I had to smile when I read the " ASLEF means members not numbers " editorial about " Uncle Bob " from the RMT , nothing ever changes , the relations were "reasonable" recently but the brothers have fallen out again over poaching .

" " Fraternal Greetings " from the Sectionalist Brake Monkeys " was one comment I've had emailed from a ex guard

It's been that way since time immorial re NUR / RMT V ASLEF , in the 70's , One Union Baron threatened to throw another down a pit shaft , ironically the Tories wanted to deliberately fragmentize the industry to neutralize the RMT , but ASLEF cleaned up but with Driver Only Trains , shafting the RMT who wanted guards on the trains .

There's a breakaway union which the Train Companies don't recognize as a result of the ASLEF HQ " Bonding Bar BQ " & the alcohol fueled violence .

For all the complaints about Billy Bunter and his chums at HQ & some are quite justified , just be thankful that there's only the CWU & CMA / AMICUS / Unite instead of the TSSA , ASLEF & the RMT and UNITE waiting on the sidelines + the breakaway union to get back at ASLEF -Railway Management must be very thankful

Union Politics can make other politics look like a playground skirmish .
