Good evening,
My colleague is fasting for Ramadan. He's a cover postman and is moved around the office a lot. For the next two weeks he is on the longest trolley walk of our office. He's struggling to complete, due to him fasting and it's making him quite poorly. He's asked to be moved and nothings happened - he's worried about asking again.
What are the rules with this? He says he doesn't mind doing a walk, obviously, but because it's a very long trolley walk, he's finding it very hard.
Thank you for any advice.

Yes, the employer should be assisting your colleague. No duty should be any bigger than any other. If he is unable to complete he should be using the procedure. The legislation is clear - no one should suffer a detriment for their religious beliefs.Cherry24 wrote: ↑06 Mar 2025, 18:42Good evening,

Can I apply for an easy walk when I over indulge on Easter eggs next month?

Gluttony is one of the deadly sins so if I was your manager i'd say no for failing to adhere to your fairy tale religion.

If you're a Muslim doing Ramadan that's a private matter, you knew what you're signing up for when you join RM.

Are you saying one religion’s sky fairy is more important than another religion’s sky fairy?tramssirhc wrote: ↑07 Mar 2025, 06:51Gluttony is one of the deadly sins so if I was your manager i'd say no for failing to adhere to your fairy tale religion.

No, it's not if a reasonable accommodation can be made; it should be its part of the law. The converse argument is that RM knew or was aware of his religious beliefs before he started working for them, and they should know their obligations under the law.NWpostie wrote: ↑07 Mar 2025, 07:58This opens a whole can of worms, what about Jews passover, Catholic lent, etc you get the picture, do they all get special privileges extra time off, special days, pretty soon the tank and file will get resentful of special treatments religion causes division.tramssirhc wrote: ↑06 Mar 2025, 20:46Yes, the employer should be assisting your colleague. Re: Ramadan Fasting
No need to try and belittle someone's religion. I am an atheist, but to answer the question, no, you couldn't.t Easter Eggs are not part of the religious observance of easter, so no reasonable accommodation needs to be made.

Re: Ramadan Fasting
Frankly, people, the way this thread descended to sniping at each other instead of answering the question is very disappointing. 2 posts were deleted because they contained abuse.
