Attendance agreement

Post by RHickman1962 »

Just checking is the attendance agreement that came into force august 2023, the most recent one? If not where should I be looking for the most up to date guidelines on occupational health referrals?

Yes, that's the recent one.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

So this advice to managers about what they need to do with regards to occupational health referrals is current:

Making a referral to Occupational
Health Service

Before being referred, the employee must give
their consent. The manager should explain why
they wish to refer the employee, the issues on
which they are requesting Occupational Health
Service and how the information will be used.
Although the consent need only be verbal the
manager should clearly record the agreement.
The Occupational Health Practitioner will ensure
that consent has been given when they speak
with the employee. p.35 Attendance agreement (policy guides section)

All I have received from my DOM are two texts requesting my email address, and one verbal instruction to do so. None of which seems to meet what they are being asked to do.

Any referral needs a reason and that reason must be recorded. You can ask to see that reason. Normally it is written so providing you with a copy should not be an issue. I've dealt with numerous cases where referrals have been made and the reason was incorrect.
