3 1/2 hr del span

does 3 1/2 hr del span still exist
surely it must for it was introduced for h/s reasons
reason im asking our office is planning 4hr walk duties
what is procedure for doing this re meal breaks etc
asked dom about meal brks said he wasnt interested in talking bout it
can someone confirm proper procedure ie
heard 2hrs then break then 2hrs again or 3hrs del then break then 1 hr del
surely u cant be expected to walk 4 hrs without toilet fac or break fac
remembering not all duties close to office ours 5 miles away im not having break on streets ?
where do we stand on this

As far as i now mate the Single Daily Delivery Agreement still holds the field which says town deliverys should not exceed 3.5 hours,for how much longer that will be is anyones guess.With changes in the business now looking to be every other week it wont be to long before we are delivering for 4 hours,the reason Automation,new machines are in Mail centres which will walk sort and sequence the mail ready for delivery killing off IPS and prep time,resulting in longer walks.

Surely there is a better way than four unbroken hours out of the office is abhorrent in this day and age!. Mans in humanity to his fellow man in the twenty first century is repugnant in the least!. May shame follow them :cfo & :lfo where ever they go!.

A mealbreak after 2 hours out on the cobbles would be nice

To have delivery spans over 3 1/2 hours RM have to get the weight off the shoulder ie. HCT'S or some other methods, i seen RM managers on Blackpool beach last week eyeing up the donkeys, so if they start putting stables up in your DO start worrying.

They'll go for the van sharing scheme which I believe has been trialled in Lincoln.

One van, 2 staff and 2 sets of keys. One gets out with x amount of mail and postie 2 drives off until his/her x amount starts, locking the van after themselves. Postie comes up to van and drives off etc etc etc until said delivery complete. All ok until you get 2 together and one of them either drives too slowly or the other one wants to peg it everywhere and get done early.

Hence weight off shoulder and added security ie 2 staff instead of 1.

Depends I guess.

Is it his prep which is slow? Is it down to the fact that his prep is slow and if he could get out on time then he'd be fine or what? He could be walk tested I guess which is what I'd ask for. Also, is his delivery mostly council housing? Georoute says call rates are less when they're council housing which I think a) is wrong and b) suits RM to say that and then they can, as in your case, take walks out. I'd also say that could his age be a contributary factor? Older people cannot walks as fast as they did 20 or so years ago and this should be taken into account.

Depends upon if the partimer has a full/pemament contract if not they will not renew it and are bulling him if he has how can they prove he is not up to the job unless he admit's to it!. Are they going to say we are all to slow because we can not match the speed of a dot on a computor monitor how would that stand up in court!.
