how long down the line do they start asking for doctors notes? which i guess is upto urself whether u disclose ur medical information

I have had dealings with OH. They are really good. They listened to my reasons for being off work. Tried to help as much as possible. Put recommendations in to RM management of which management completely ignored. No pressures from OH and didn’t need any sick notes. They reported back truthfully. 10/10.

PS Don’t think they are there to do management bidding. It’s quite the opposite

I've found them to be excellent. The ladies I have spoke with were compassionate and helpful. They will also offer you the opportunity to see the report before sending to RM, and you can disagree/omit any bits you do not like.

They really aren't there to trick you or get you back in to work, they are information gatherers looking to make an informed recommendation.

Excellent, very helpful, gave suggestions which I acted upon.
My Manager was also excellent, but I would suggest I am in the minority with that subject.

see optima health if they want ur doctors medical records, whats anybodys experiences with this? being unprofessional as royal mail is, i could imagine ur medical notes being passed around the office for a laugh, or is their a such thing as confidentiality

Only so far as actively being passed around the office, many managers have apparently never paid any attention to the data protection video we have to watch every year

Notes relating to sickness and conduct are frequently left lying about, I don't believe maliciously, just because the average manager is too thick and/or too lazy to realise the potential consequences.

My manager recently handed his work mobile and pin over to an OPG for a few hours.
I was fuming when I answered my phone and it was her I was speaking to, and beyond livid when she sent a text; I realized she would/could have easily seen the previous text conversation which was contained an honest and extremely blunt description of why I wasn't attending.

So no the previous poster is most likely absolutely not paranoid, simply quite reasonably concerned about personal information being entrusted to absolutely idiots

Its optima health poster is asking about not rm managers..although do agree with you how managers leave important stuff lying about for all to see.

And Optima health send a copy of their reports to the two frontline managers who are required to be named in the referral, as well as the HR bod who approves it.

The fact that certain stuff inevitably has to end up in the hands of and be held certain managers, even if through a third party first, is indeed a thing to be very worried about.

Optima Health in my experience absolutely fine and professional. Royal mail management are generally absolutely not.

That said, having just had a referral I was asked an awful lot of in depth questions which I answered extremely honestly, the report that came through just said things like under care of consultant and GP' and 'on appropriate medication and treatment'

No specific details but still some things I would absolutely prefer to kept on a need to know.
And I have little trust in my manager to keep it that way.

So I hope my telling of my experience settles the previous poster's mind a little, but contrary to the assumption they certainly are not paranoid, even the tiniest amount of personal information in the wrong hands can be a very troubling thing

OH are superb ! just make sure you do not miss their call as it costs RM a lot of money and your manager gets really pissed off ! mmmmm on second thoughts !
