It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You should have argued like we did over hours, they wanted us to have stupid times like what you have but we kept arguing the point and finally it was agreed to 5.45 starts Mon-Fri and 5.00 on Saturday. Which despite never having been overly keen on longs and shorts the times suit me ok.

Think you should move your 2nd break back 2hrs, creates all sorts of mayhem, drivers ,pouching off, scanning

At the moment our delivery times are:

06:15 - 14:33 M-F
05:00 - 11:00 S

Next week we will be having our first meeting on the Long/Short hours, so you can bet your bottom dollar it will mean we'll be delivering way past 2pm Wed,Thurs,Fri.

Sod the customers in the name of "flexibility" will be RM's answer.

Ours are Now

Mon Tue Wed 0600 - 1400
Thu - Fri 0600 - 1430
Sat 0600 - 1300

(Latest last letter on long days 13.55 take into account split breaks and Travelling Time)

I would like your Saturdays but when they bring in banking time any time you made during the week will be added to Saturday to get the 40 hours. I'd rather have my hours, less chance to be forced into longer than expected delivery on Saturdays.

5:45 to 12:45 is 7 hours..... We certainly havent been shafted either, we tend to finish early on the 9 hour days, and there is docket there for everyone on the 7 hours duty days. Win/win.

I'm working those hours at Wilbur's office and am quite happy with them - but I'm not sure that the DOM is lol.

We finally had our "Long and Short" meeting yesterday, where we were told the new hours will be coming in NEXT Monday. Although it only means 30 mins extra Thurs/Fri (til 3pm), it still doesn't give us much time to raise objections if we have a life outside work.

We all know RM will fix it so work levels drop off Mon/Tues and then hammer the s**t out of us later in the week.

So much for trying to get the mail delivered by 2pm (according to the USO)!

The union got a roasting in the meeting................. but everyone will do it and everyone will continue coming in early (if not even earlier now!), race around cos they use their cars, moan like crazy yet not take a break and then ASAP til they are ready to drop - finally delivering the mail for free..................

Since I stopped using my car, I saved a fortune. Instead of filling up every 3 weeks, I only fill up every 3 months now. :dance
