A lot of postie's in my office are extremely Racist, Trabsphobic, anti-vax or just generally ignorant.

As the talks of striking have been heating up most people at my office, in fact literally everyone has been angry at these new changes. We can all see how the changes completely exploit the workforce and how it will make our working lives significantly worse.

While talking to my colleagues about worker action as well as the cost of living crisis and general bad direction the whole country's going in at the moment political conversation usually comes up.

What I have noticed in these talks is that while a lot of the workforce is very left wing when it comes to worker policies and worker rights they are more than not extremely right when it comes to social views. How anyone can understand that The Daily Mail lies about unions and "lazy workers" but then eats up the right wing medias views on Brexit, race, gender is beyond me.

The comments in my office are sometimes worrying to here. "The f***ing Asians are ruining this country" "I'm fed up of all these transgenders" "it's the Jews running it all" "we should just kill all the crack heads on the streets"

I hear comments id expect from your typical Tory coming from poor working class folk who are barely getting by during these tough times. Where's the sense of unity? Where's the understanding for their fellow working class and oppressed people? How has the media tricked these guys into believing this rubbish when the same media call them lazy for striking?

I don't know if this is isolated just to my office or if others have experience with this sort of thing in there office's.

I put it down to having no table-manners.

If anyones wants a fight then open a discussion on politics or religion/ideology.

If anyones doesn't want a fight.....don't do that.

Whilst we're on the topic I'll admit to some ignorance myself in the hope of being educated and informed by those who know.

What does left-wing/rightwing actually mean? Whence does it arise? What are the qualities of each and how can we tell one from another?

From my own point of view I do see this occasionally.
But more often it is from the older generation.
I have watched my son grow up with a different attitude towards racism so it’s my belief that education is still the key.
I grew up with a Mother who graduated in Sociology & a father in politics meaning there knowledge base was passed onto me & then my son.
As a graduate myself it still amazes me that a person can hate someone on the bases of colour.
Racism was created my Government’s of past(& today)
as a form of Social Control, so those with this viewpoint have been brainwashed into thinking racism is ok.
Read, Educate yourselves, form your own opinions & from there society moves forward.

Don't talk nonsense. "Racism" wasn't "created" by anybody. It's an echo back to prehistoric times when it was "them and us" and a necessary survival strategy in a hard existence.
Thankfully the vast majority no longer see it as a viable ethos in the 21st century.
