What do the terms BSI and EP mean or relate to?

BSI stands for Bull S**t Index and is what management refer to and use when looking for a reason to say why you should be working harder.

I think is stands for British Standard Institute. How that relates to RM I’m not so sure. Most probably a way of measuring work performance.

In simple terms if the industrial engineer says the most letters you could sort in a minute in perfect conditions was 50 that would be 100BSI.
As most people cannot maintain that level of efficiency over any length of time it is seldom used in any workplace as a measure of individual capability, that's not what it was designed for.

It is even less often used for any kind conduct issue or suitability for employment because it's almost impossible to measure accurately on an individual basis and a legal minefield as is the whole non culpable inefficiency idea.

BSI and measured efficiency are used to give a unit's overall performance.

I think EP is expected performance and 100 bsi is basically 100% performance, every office works to 100 bsi, you only usually come across this in resource meetings

I'm 99% sure that EP is Effective Performance, remember it from when I watched a DVD about the old TPOs

"Easy Peasy" ...and "Bull s**t Indicator"are the two terms that immediately spring to mind. But of course this is not correct ! As answered above both relate in some way to individual ( and office) performance against a set measure of work (weighted items)

Going forward there will be more measurement and monitoring of performance in a bid to improve efficiency. It makes sense in many ways but only if workload is manageable and figures imputed into " the machine" are reliable and fair.
