Hi all
I've stood for the position of Deputy Union Rep in my office. My completed nomination form was handed in well ahead of the deadline that was due on the 23rd December. The current Deputy Union Rep to my knowledge also handed in their form to contest keeping their current position.
Expecting an election between us; I finally got a chance today to speak to the Area Union Branch Secretary to confirm what date this would be held. I was told that there will be no election contest between us. Instead, there will be two positions of Deputy Union Reps in my office.
Now I didn't agree to this and believe it to be a breach of the CWU rules and constitution. Is there anyone here that can confirm this? and if so point me in the right direction of who I should complain to?

The thought did cross my mind as well.
Usually there would be a ballot if two or more people have applied, but maybe as your in that there London Royal Mail would agree to there being a rep and two sub reps in an office ?

only 40 people in my office, how many Union Reps do they need, surely be a conflict of interest with two people doing the same job.

If the rep is absent (sick/holiday) which of the 2 deputy reps will have the hot seat?

2 reps in same office is better than none assuming that you both sing from the same hymn sheet, though could cause some issues if 1 rep agrees with a dom and another doesn't
