Days off this week (xmas week)

Basically im a reserve, had my first saturday off this year (19th december) so asked for the monday aswell as i havent had a long weekend this year either. Was told no reserves would be getting a day off this week that it would be either friday or saturday as usual when it comes to holidays that holiday is always our day off.

Found out a reserve who is less senior has wednesday off this week after changing his day from monday to wednesday.

Spoke to union rep who says its wrong but theres nothing he can do about it. Looking for a second opinion.

Sick of people not being treated fairly in the office.

Take it above you rep. No point in them saying its wrong and then saying nothing they can do. Probably just can't be bothered with sorting it out.

You are entitled to a rotating day off, if you are told otherwise get it in writing & contact HR.

Managers will always quote the word Saturdays are an 'aspiration' for reserves meaning they can't be arsed
giving you the correct number of Saturdays off. Keep a record of what you have been given/not given and
then tell your office rep you're going to put in a written grievance, that you're going to give him/her a copy and also
going to send a copy to your AREA rep. Might give him/her a nudge to get it sorted. If no joy then actually put the grievance
in.

A reserve follows the day off of the duty they are covering, since that can be due to annual leave or sick absence it's impossible to follow a set rotation.

A reserve should get as near to the equivalent of 1 Saturday in 4 as is possible as per the BT2010 agreement but there is no agreement that covers long weekends.

I'm a reserve and have rotating day off. Used to go through the crap of not knowing what day and didn't have a long weekend in 2yrs. Its possible to get, depends on if your rep can be bothered to help you out.

It is but it's not an entitlement covered by any agreement and enforceable by a disagreement..
