local agreements
Are there any other private companies in the UK that have so many different rules/ways of working/shift patterns?

Re: local agreements
Probably not, it’s a sign of a unionised workforce.

Re: local agreements
It’s because we are a huge organisation that runs 24,7 operation nationwide, employing over 100000 staff. I’m not sure what being unionised has got to do with it. If Your bosses get a freehand then working would have to be more flexible and complex than they are now.

Re: local agreements
Ive worked for Royal Mail for 37yrs in that time the standard of Branch Secretaries and union reps,as dropped considerably. So much so that our driving section rep, as a desk in an office right next to the area logistics manager. Yes i said area logistics manager. The CWU is losing it's balls. Its our fault for voting in weak reps that take the knee, to keep being withdrawn from duties.
I believe a lot of local agreements are made between Managers seducing feable reps. I hate them.

I know most reps come in for a bit of stick every now and again but it must be difficult not to turn a blind eye to a rep that has a desk in the managers office!
Our rep talks the talk but I've never actually seen him walk the walk so to speak....
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
