Clocking In
Everyone, including the union, keeps banging on about posties coming in early and finishing early. Well im all for the union going for clocking in and out, ideally using their finger prints. That's the only way people will work till their time. Using any other method would leave the system open to abuse by managers. Come on union let's ride with this as the managers have no way of abusing this. Surely this system would have the DOMS shi#@ng themselves as there would be no more ghost overtime or coming in early for a start. What could Rico say about the union agreeing to there being no more charity workers comng in early. I don't know how to start a poll on here, but if someone does, get one started to see what posties thnk

how does a clocking in machine stop people coming in early, working at their frames for 30 mins then walking over and clocking in on their time ? Unless they install a security door at each office where u only get in by scanning in then it will change nothing

how do you get the yorks out? we only have one entrance/exit apart from the fire escapes and only one gateway for the vans with no security barrier.gimba wrote:I heard they're doing a turn style-esk system, we're getting clocking in system installed April

It doesn't stop them coming in early if they still want to, but it would mean they would have to stop to their time otherwise risk getting their pay docked or risk the Dom claiming back the time. The charity workers would soon start doing the job right and come in on timehero22 wrote:how does a clocking in machine stop people coming in early, working at their frames for 30 mins then walking over and clocking in on their time ? Not quite if your hours are 9-2 but you come in 7-12 youve still done 5 hrs so would get paid it.DICKIEG wrote:It doesn't stop them coming in early if they still want to, but it would mean they would have to stop to their time otherwise risk getting their pay docked or risk the Dom claiming back the time. That's fair enough, it will mean the jobs will have to be made more equal. And what will the runners gain by finishing early. As long as people learn if your paid for 5 hours work expect to work 5 hours.

Not necessarily, your duty start and finished time may be digitally registered with wages dept and paid accordingly.leolion855 wrote:Not quite if your hours are 9-2 but you come in 7-12 youve still done 5 hrs so would get paid it.DICKIEG wrote:It doesn't stop them coming in early if they still want to, but it would mean they would have to stop to their time otherwise risk getting their pay docked or risk the Dom claiming back the time. I honestly can't understand why anyone would think clocking in/out would end up benefitting any of us. Don't you think that royal mail have realised that by bringing it in they could be giving people a reason to slow down and stop starting early for free with the knock on effects of people claiming more or cutting off? If this gets rolled out it will be a small part of a bigger plan that will include constant monitoring of how you are working during the hours you are paid. They surely can't be daft enough to just bring it in then let people either drag deliveries out to fill their hours or have people thinking they can work as slow as they want in order to clock off late and get paid it no questions asked! It isn't going to happen. At our gate meeting last week our area rep mentioned something new to me, that they want to automatically dock our pay for the yellow dots on the actuals , be interesting how they work that one

Its when you're stood still/inactive for a certain amount of time. The longer you're inactive the larger the dot gets.hero22 wrote:what are the yellow dots ? So they would want to dock your pay because a yellow dot has appeared on your PDA actuals. That could happen because you are waiting for someone to answer the door when delivering a parcel/recorded etc. Or will we be given a set time to wait before moving on. "Sorry mate you can't have your item now because you have exceeded the allowed door knocking waiting time, just follow the instructions on the 739 card, bye"citypostie wrote:I honestly can't understand why anyone would think clocking in/out would end up benefitting any of us. How does that work when your a reserve on a different route each day and possibly changed on the day due to 'operational needs'Marshamp11 wrote:Not necessarily, your duty start and finished time may be digitally registered with wages dept and paid accordingly.leolion855 wrote:Not quite if your hours are 9-2 but you come in 7-12 youve still done 5 hrs so would get paid it.DICKIEG wrote:It doesn't stop them coming in early if they still want to, but it would mean they would have to stop to their time otherwise risk getting their pay docked or risk the Dom claiming back the time.
