If you mean the flexability shite,it 30mins either way.
But you still work your 40hrs and do not have to go over, unless you want docket of course.
And you still don't go over 3-30mins on your walk.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Re: Variation of hours
The only part of the agreement concerning indoor work is the "doing other work within your office" variation of hours can be anywork as long as the 3.30 mins delivery span is adhered to, as well as some other criteria such as earnings level, 9.00am items, also if this become regular even on 1 duty the duty needs looked atrural 3 wrote:Dose anyone have any ideas on how variation of hours will work under phase 2 as its only indoor according to cwu guidelines bearing in mind ours is heavy do.

It seems at the moment that management and union here have differences of opinion as to what the deal means.
Flexibilty within your duty times, or flexiblity outside of your duty times?
I note that if you are flexible and work above your duty times, and have 8 hours in the bank, this cannot be used to have a day off (unhlike managers who do) and that the business tells you when to take the time of instead.

My patch has a area aggrement and all the delivery reps and DOMS attended a joint meeting last week on the flexibility area aggrement.
Hopefully this will help every thing to run smoothly so the mbrs can get their £400 and 1.5% which they voted for and are expecting their reps and DOM's to deliver.[/b]

Remember that job and finish is still in place untill such time as national trial has taken place and the top bods have reached aggrement on the sorts of things that can be looked at and implemented.
Once it goes mbrs will be advised more than ever to do the job properly as there will be simply no point in starting early, rushing around, not bothering with full scale van checks.
Make WTLL sessions last the full 30 mins as well.
Maybe a spot of refresher training from the DOM on van and cycle checks on the first day without job and finish.

I voted no and I really don't care about a few measly pounds if it means me having to work myself into an early grave.Big Daz wrote:My patch has a area aggrement and all the delivery reps and DOMS attended a joint meeting last week on the flexibility area aggrement.

Early grave?
Its very clear that the 40 hour week stays as 40 hour week, so whats the problem?
30 min varation of hours is a contingency measure only.

Quite right Daz - the 40 hour week is our anchor - we shouldn't be forced over it and those who are must be supported if they need it - if we choose to go over whether through goodwill or necessity we make sure we are paid the going rate - no one works for nothing and people die for good causes NOT bad companiesBig Daz wrote:disgruntledpostie1 wrote:I voted no and I really don't care about a few measly pounds if it means me having to work myself into an early grave.Big Daz wrote:My patch has a area aggrement and all the delivery reps and DOMS attended a joint meeting last week on the flexibility area aggrement.

40hrs means 40hrs? Not in my DO they don't, the DUM wants you to complete everyday whether or not you go over your time (and the AGM has already told the union reps at a meeting that anyone who refuses to work over their time will end up on the conduct code) and another thing we've been told that unless we agree to RM's proposals then they will just be implemented by EA.rhino49 wrote:Quite right Daz - the 40 hour week is our anchor - we shouldn't be forced over it and those who are must be supported if they need it - if we choose to go over whether through goodwill or necessity we make sure we are paid the going rate - no one works for nothing and people die for good causes NOT bad companiesBig Daz wrote:disgruntledpostie1 wrote:I voted no and I really don't care about a few measly pounds if it means me having to work myself into an early grave.Big Daz wrote:My patch has a area aggrement and all the delivery reps and DOMS attended a joint meeting last week on the flexibility area aggrement.

I really believe the union has sold out it's members and enabled RM to dictate how our lives are to be run from now on.

The 30 minutes flexibility mate can only be used by management rarely and if the AGM is forcing you he is breaking the agreement.
They can conduct you if you refuse to go over at all but they cannot force it in too often!!
Group together and send a protest to, dare i say it, leighton.

Re: flexibility
and how often is too often, nearly all rurals in my DO are well over their time (as are most of the towns) so they'll just use the flexibility to complete the duties.vigilante wrote:disgruntledpostie1 wrote:40hrs means 40hrs? We've already sent protests to Lieton and nothing has come of it (except maybe more visits by the senior managers to bully us into not complaining)
I'm really fed up with all this crap, the useless management, the ever increasing work load and the fact that the union has abandoned us to fight for ourselves .

You seem to have two things going on here.
They can ask you to flex in certain circumstances but the 3o minutes has to be claimed back by the end of the week; they cannot force you to work over your contracted hours. The good thing about the flex and our 'fallback' is the preamble...
It is all about managers, reps and employees working together sensibly with a bit of give and take, applying equally to all. This is not about employees not knowing what job they are on, or when they start and finish from one day to the next. Nor is it about anyone refusing reasonable requests. Account should of course always be taken of individual circumstances.
Keep quoting that at them if you get 'flexed' and ask when EXACTLY you will get it back, because it is your RIGHT under the agreement to know your start and finish times in advance.
Get the agreement and print it off for yourself and get it on the wall at work

Your comments sum up the problem perfectly, nothing like you describe is going to happen in my office.
RM seem to be playing good cop bad cop and you my friend seem to be stuck with the bad cop!
There is a national aggrement on cutting off and so long as you tell the manager BEFORE you go out on delivery you cant complete then all they can do is to test you and your duty.
If the AGM sticks to his guns then i hope your reps ask HQ for IA ballot.
A mbr in my office was interviewed under the conduct code by the DSM for cutting off (he told the manger before he went out and did everything by the book!) as the DOM felt he was taking the piss by doing a very small cut off.
DSM listened to the case and his decsion was NO PENALTY WHAT SO EVER!
So the DOM felt it warranted a penalty beyond his authority to give but the DSM decdied it didnt warranta penalty at all. Makes you wonder!
We are now on our 2nd new DOM since that DOM.
