In a delivery office during the summer period from week 10 until 24 what have we gotto absorb....Indoor or Outdoor work ?

There has been guidance issed to all Area Delivery reps from HQ stating that the 3hr30 delivery span should not be extended so based on that the only area up for debate is indoor workload and this is the line reps should take

In our office i was talking to the DOM and he said he will lapse a duty in the summer and expect the remaining town duty's to absorb that round IE every postman to take a few streets out on delivery .

Exactly that what i have been doing anyway but you still get the idiots who run around with a bag on there bike and one on there shoulder even on the morning our DOM announced what this pay deal means unbelievable .

we all need proper advise from union HQ
so management don't rail road in changes and end up playing on office off against another
we have been told we have to loose a duty for summer savings and everyone takes part. but those that have to prep it will do way more than those that deliver.

they are going to try and get us to take out extra they have nt got a clue whats going on i asked my dom what the buisnesses ideas were for us she said she did nt no i asked her what pecentange of walk sequenced / sorted mail would arrive she dose nt no i asked what the percentage of manual would be arriving she has nt got a clue but she wants us to come up with ideas in the next 2 weeks to save money how the f**k can she ask us that when even the buisness dont no how this is going to run same old story from rm take out the hours then realise they ve made an arse of it again i gave her an idea goes like this we start 06.15 on sorting approx 40 mins that takes us till o6.55 from 06.55 till 07.55 sorting our frames from 07.55 till 08.55 sorting part time frames 22 hr contracts which we have 17 and only 18 full time staff on sorting from 08.55 till 0935 fix missorts and get both duties bagged up 0935 till 1015 break then time to hit the streets with our 3.5 hr deliveries no time for anything else added on so where do they think they can squeeze more into how does that sound :

It is indoor work that should be absorbed, but they have already started trying to talk about outdoor work in my office.

Too right, mate. EVERYBODY must now work their times, if for example you're paid from 6o'clock until 2o'clock, make sure don't start a minute before
six and don't pouch off before 1.50. If people choose to ignore this common sense advice, well, they'll only have themselves to blame if management
add more work on to them.

Oh, and before I forget, we're all allowed 40 mins in which to relax every day, it's called MEAL RELIEF, take it. It makes working your contracted hrs
that much easier to do.

Efficient Summer Staffing 4 duties will be lapsed& the rest of the duties in the office will absorb the content of Indoor & outdoorwork. this will be done on a 1 to 10 ratio and fairly distrubuted
21 mins each delivery time
4 mins associated mail work
5 mins additional travel time

does that mean they want us to take an extra 21 mins each on top of our 3.5 hr walk they can ram that and how do they expect you to travel to it in 5 mins are they giving us rockets or have we just to float their in this big bubble that they are living in 4 mins associated mail work

also just thiught about this but if postcom are telling us last letter by 2 then how can we add another 21 mins walk time that would take us past that is this another well thought out plan :cfo :lfo

In my DO it's the rurals who will have to do the extra delivery but the towns will do all the rural IPS

Indoor work should only be absorbed at this stage and not outdoor work. The trials dealing with the covering each other will probably sort the coverage of outdoor work at a later stage. Our DOM is looking to take people off IPS to prep walks during lighter periods and paying 4 hours OT to a rest day man or perhaps splitting the walk between 3 people to deliver. This way staff still have the opportunity to earn extra money but RM still make a saving by utilising spare time available on indoor work. This is a sensible way of making savings without the arguements of who is going to do what when splitting a walk and also keeps within the limits of the 3.5 hour delivery span
