OH ASSESSMENT

Post by dawsonmcc »

Hi there I'm hoping some one can help me out. I have been off work now for 3 months I have 2 herniated discs and have to go for an operation it's just the nhs waiting game now.
I have a telephone appointment with OH assist arranged by my DOM tomorrow afternoon however my DIM has called me and said that I have to go into the office tomorrow morning and do some sort of assessment to say what I can and can't do. My question is why is my Dom wanting me to do this when he knows that I have an assessment tomorrow afternoon with a RM Doctor I know for a fact that he does not have a PhD so why does he think I should have to answer his questions.
Any advise greatly appreciated

If your doctor's fit note says your not fit for work then quite simply your not fit for work. He has no right to do his own assessment he is not a qualified doctor. That's why he has arranged for a o h assessment. Contact your union rep about this if I were you . I personally would not allow for him to do his own assessment. I can't see the union allowing this.

You do NOT have to attend, just phone and say that you're not mobile/well enough. Then get onto Area and SCREAM BLOODY MURDER that your Dim is trying to do his own assessment of your abilities outwith the agreement then bang in a grievance.

Thanks for the advise. I got on to my area rep yesterday and he has confirmed that I don't have to do this they call it a scoping document so I will not be attending just to let the dom think he is a doctor

Good on you bud. First I've heard of this scoping document. Do you know if it is agreed with the union?

Don't think it's agreed with union just my area rep said that it was something that I didn't have to fill in so I'm assuming it's not been agreed
