Hi. Does anyone know if you are medically retired due to ill health, can you be re-employed. having since had intense treatment, i believe i would be able to return to royal mail, not to the same office, but another local office which i'm aware of has less walking and more driving which i believe i could do. a friend, still employed, said he knows of many who have returned in this position. is this possible? i've no idea what other work i can do. at the time when i left, i could barely work 200 meters without severe pain and discomfort. thanks

I would imagine that it depends on why you took ill health retirement and whether or not it's likely to reoccur.

as you met the criteria for IHR all that means is that for the foreseeable future the OH didn't envisage you returning to work (for royal mail), however they didn't rule out you returning to work (the general workforce) in the future.
you can only apply to RM and get turned down. As my dad say "nothing beats a try but a failure"
