Return to work interviews ?

I was wondering if anyone could answer a couple of questions for me on this matter ?



[center]1. How long has a manager got, to give you a return to work interview ?

2. If the manager doesn't give you the return to work interview within the alotted time, can they issue a STAGE, if it comes to it ?

3. What if the manager hasn't given a return to work interview when someone who has been off sick returns to work ?[/center]

My understanding is that they should be carried out on the first working day after your absence. This allows for circumstances where someone has been off Monday-Friday, phones up on Friday afternoon to say they are resuming, but cannot be subjected to a RTW interview until Monday morning of the following week.

More experienced people than I will doubtless come back if I'm wrong, but I also understand that Stage warnings have been overturned by good reps where a RTW interview was not carried out at all, or not carried out within the stipulated time-frame. But there is no right of appeal on Stage 1 or Stage 2. You could only fight the RTW not being done in time if you were facing a Stage 3 ???

Locally they are known for botching everything all the way through . If the worst comes to the worst , A Tribunal would have to decide if RM has followed procedure , Solictors acting for RM that would try and get David Blunkett a driving licence or not .

I`ve was off work for 5 months and came back to work on rehab just throwing a couple of part time frames out,sign offs etc,and had my RTW on the first day back,the wet behind the ears lino came to me a few days later and said I need to see you as your abscence has triggered a Stage 1.
So off I go into the office and tells him allover again that I`ve got such and such condition and because of it I will probably have to have surgery later on as the Meds that make me feel okay will eventually stop working,so he says I`m not going to issue it.Good stuff

Now this young gun has in the mean time been sent to another office,so two weeks later am sat doing the sign offs and the local bullyboy brown noser(2nd in comand to the DOM)walks up to me and hands me an envolope,opens it and now the DOM wants me in next week to do a Stage 1.WTF?

as it's already been dealt with , very much doubt they could issue it now. make sure you take a rep in with you.

Hopefully i will be returning to work in the next month after nearly 5 months off.

I am a Branch Secretary and have been a rep and i will still be taking my area or office rep in with me when i go into my return to work interview.

exactly , everything is purely to impress other managers -that's the culture of fear that big Al likes for his managers , Asda has exactly the same style .
